The Deoxys Factor
Deoxys, the mysterious elusive 386th Pokémon. This Pokémon is really unique with the fact that in the games it is in, it is always different. It's stats, appearence and moveset is different.
When you trade Deoxys from game to game, its stats and appearence change to the Stats and Appearence of that game. However Attacks, IV's and Effort Points stay the same. Say you put 129 EP's on Special Attack...trade over and even if the stat changes, the Effort Points stay the same as do the IV's which help determine the stats. So If you trade Attack Deoxys to Colosseum...it'll be Normal Form, to Emerald...it'll be Speed Forme
So if you're training a specific Deoxys it has to be on the particular game. However you can trade it to get attacks that it cannot normally learn like getting an Attack Deoxys with Extremespeed or a Speed one with Hyper Beam
They are perfectly usable in Link Battles. However in the third generation, there is a snag to doing this, when Battling lets say FireRed to LeafGreen both with Deoxys. The following will happen:
First, on your opponent's screen, no matter what game you are using or what form you are using, it will look like a Normal form. However, the stats for the Deoxys would equal the game so if one person is using an Attack Deoxys...it will stay as one stat wise, even if someone is using Defense Deoxys in battle against you...It would truely be Attack Deoxys VS Defense Deoxys...you just would be unable to see it. This even happens on Pokémon Colosseum! This factor is no longer present during the fourth generation
Deoxys is caught by using a Nintendo event to get the Aurora Ticket in FireRed/Leaf Green/Emerald and go to Birth Island where you will catch it at Level 30. It is also given away through a special WiFi mission in Pokémon Ranger: Tracks of Light at Level 50
4th Generation Addition
With the Fourth Generation of games, Deoxys is not given any new forms, rather now, if you transfer your Deoxys over to your fourth generation games from your games, you have access to all four forms:
Diamond/Pearl/Platinum
In Veilstone City, you have the ability to change your Deoxys form. In the east of the city there are 4 Meteorites. When you have Deoxys with you in your party, talk to them and they will change your Deoxys' Form.
- Top - Speed Deoxys
- Middle - Normal Deoxys
- Bottom Left - Attack Deoxys
- Bottom Right - Defense Deoxys
All Deoxys forms have different stats and learnsets so this could be handy if you want a particular form of Deoxys that knows a certain attack

HeartGold/SoulSilver
In Route 3, you have the ability to change your Deoxys form. To the south-west of the route, you will find meteors places in a similar manner to the Sinnoh meteors. When you have Deoxys with you in your party, talk to them and they will change your Deoxys' Form.
- Top Left - Normal Deoxys
- Top Right- Attack Deoxys
- Bottom Left - Defense Deoxys
Bottom Right - Speed Deoxys
All Deoxys forms have different stats and learnsets so this could be handy if you want a particular form of Deoxys that knows a certain attack
