Biography
Sawyer is a new trainer who is travelling through the Kalos region, battling Gym Leaders as he go. Sawyer travels alone, and is able to take both wins and losses. After losing to Clemont, he noted about not being upset about losing the match as he has gained experience from it, proving that he is willing to do as much as he can to win, despite his inexperience. He is a big fan of the Hoenn Champion, Steven Stone

Sceptile
Sceptile is the partner Pokémon of Sawyer, his first Pokémon, and evolved off-screen while he was travelling the Kalos region. After evolution, it became more powerful with moves such as Bullet Seed, Leaf Storm and Leaf Blade. It battled against Ash's Greninja in its form, Ash-Greninja, but eventually lost the battle. It continues its rivalry with Ash's Greninja. At the Kalos Pokémon League, it was shown to be able to Mega Evolve into Mega Sceptile

Salamence
Sawyer used Salamence in his match against Ash in the Kalos League, having evolved from Shelgon beforehand. It was used in battle against Ash's Noivern in the Kalos Pokémon League Semi-Finals. It has powerful moves such as Dragon Rush and Dragon Tail at its disposal that allowed for it to take down Noivern at the same time as it getting knocked out.

Slurpuff
Sawyer called on Slurpuff after his notebook went missing. Sawyer used Slurpuff to hunt down the missing notebook. It was used in battle against Ash's Hawlucha where it used moves such as Electro Ball to try and defeat Hawlucha, before quickly falling despite the type advantage. It uses the moves Energy Ball and Attract in battle to try and take out Tierno's Raichu

Clawitzer
Sawyer used Clawitzer during a battle against Ash. It was sent out against Ash's noivern where it used moves like Water Pulse to attack, but then healed itself with Heal Pulse, boosted by its Mega Launcher ability. It eventually defeated Noivern with a Dragon Pulse and Hawlucha with a well placed Ice Beam. It then fell in battle to Greninja. It was then used in the Kalos League against Talonflame where it used Ice Beam and Aqua Jet to eventually win. It then lost to Pikachu.

Aegislash
Shortly before the Kalos League, Sawyer evolved his Doublade into Aegislash. This Aegislash was then used in battle against Tierno. It has the move Swords Dance to increase its strength and King's Shield to be able to switch back to Shield Forme after combat and Slash to do damage. It then fell in battle to Raichu.

Slaking
Sawyer briefly used his Slaking in his matches in the Kalos League where it helped him defeat a Medicham and get through to the quarter finals and then again during his semi final match against Ash where it faced off against his Hawlucha. With its Truant ability, it doesn't attack much, but when it does it hits hard with moves such as Counter which was used to defeat Hawlucha, Hammer Punch and Slack Off to recover health from when it was hit during the times it is loafing around. It eventually fell to Talonflame

Sawyer used Shelgon in his match against Ash upon his return. Not much is known about its battle strengths as it lost against Ash's Hawlucha in battle when the episode began. It evolved into Salamence by the Kalos League

Sawyer used Doublade during a battle against Ash. It faced off against Noivern where it used the move Iron Defense to defend itself from attacks and then various powerful moves to try and take down Noivern, before eventually falling in battle.

Grovyle
Grovyle is the partner Pokémon of Sawyer, his first Pokémon, and evolved during a rematch with Ash's Frogadier in Laverre City. After evolution, it became more powerful and agile and used its moves such as Leaf Blade and Bullet Seed to try and defeat Frogadier but still fell to Frogadier's overwhelming speed and strength. Due to this, it appears to have started a rivalry with Frogadier. It later evolved off screen

Sawyer used Bagon in his match against Valerie's Spritzee. It was also used in a Double Battle against Ash's Frogadier and Hawlucha. It is heavily defensive and managed to withstand a barrage of attacks from Hawlucha. It has the move Fire Fang to do damage, as well as the move Dragon Pulse before Sawyer learned that Dragon-type moves were ineffective against Fairy-type Pokémon. It was then used in battle against Ash's Pikachu where it quickly fell. It evolved off screen

Treecko is the partner Pokémon of Sawyer, his first Pokémon, and was used in his gym battle against Clemont's Luxray. Despite its powerful strategies and moves such as Bullet Seed, it eventually fell in battle to the Luxray. It was then used against Ash's Frogadier and Hawlucha in a battle where it eventually fell to Frogadier's onslaught. It then evolved during a rematch with Frogadier.
