A major point in Pokémon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon is the inclusion of many side quests. These side quests are typically minor but have a myriad of rewards from money to items for completion. This page details the more intricate Side Quests, which are more than just battling a trainer or showing them a Pokémon.

Vending Machine Rotom

Location: Hau'oli City

In the Hau'oli City Marina, when you go to the vending machine you will learn that the Vending Machine is broken. The girl there will discover your Rotom Pokédex and suggest that Rotom enter the vending machine in order to fix it. If you allow for that, the vending machine will be fixed and the girl will give you a Fresh Water.

Lost Meowth

Location: Route 2

When you go to Route 2, the man by Guzma's house will speak to you about a Lost Meowth. He will inform you that Meowth likes to live around old tires. You can encounter it by the truck but get given an option of grabbing it or staring at it. If you grab it, it'll move around the route. Speak to people and they'll let you know if one ran by them. Always stare at it to get it. You get given X Speed, X Sp. Atk, X Attack as a give for completion

School Mysteries

Location: Route 1

When you go to Big Wave Beach, you will speak to a youngster who mentions about some weird happenings at the Trainer School. Go there at night and you'll find a girl with her Drifloon who speaks about the 7 mysteries that are happening in the school, she will give you various pointers to solve them

  • Scary PA System - Go upstairs and you'll find out that the speaker is broken
  • Stairs to nowhere - Stairs in the school keep cycling. Interact with noticeboard to get Gastly
  • Lord Slimy - At night a slimy sound is heard. Go upstairs to find it's the Janitor's Grimer
  • Scary Lights - Go to the incinerator in the north east to find a Lass burning things
  • Cursed Diary - Go to the diary on the shelf to be attacked by a Drifloon
  • Ghost Class - Go upstairs to find a class of children, but it turns out to be a Hypno hallucination.

After finding those six, the girl will say she can't help with the seventh but note about how she moves to Alola and didn't know English and now wants to protect the school. You receive some Wide Glasses. You get interrupted by a security guard and the girl disappears.

Beach Bottle

Location: Kala'e Bay

In Kala'e Bay, you will find a letter in a bottle on the beach. This letter is from the brother of a woman in the house in Iki Town. If you go to see her, then she will thank you for letting her know what happened and will give you a Stardust

Beach Bottle

Location: Heahea Beach

In Heahea , you will find a letter in a bottle on the beach. This letter is to be delivered to the dancer in Tide Song Hotel. Deliver it to her and she will give you a Heart Scale.

Elderly Man's Friends

Location: Tide Song Hotel

In the Tide Song Hotel, you will find an elderly man who misses his friends and will ask you to find them. One can be found in Heahea Beach near the surfboards, another in the Apparel Shop in Heahea City and another by the dock. Return to the hotel room and he'll thank you for making this reunion possible and give you a Revival Herb

Pikachu Valley

Location: Pikachu Valley

In Pikachu Valley, if you speak to the Trial Guide, she will give you a quiz on all things Pikachu. If you succeed in the quiz then you will obtain the Pikachu Cap and Pikachu Shirt

Vulpix & Team Skull

Location: Paniola Town

In Paniola Town, you will see Team Skull harassing an Alolan Vulpix, demanding the bottle cap in its mouth.After you have defeated them, it will run off. You can then find it in the Aether Foundation trailer in Route 8 where it's just not responding or eating, so you get enlisted to help it and visit it each day. Eventually, you will get it back to full health and the Aether Foundation will take it up to Mt. Lanakila where you can interact with it.

Comfey

Location: Route 5

In Route 5's Pokémon Center, if you go in the morning, a Rising Star will explain about how the flowers have a secret. Comfey will come in and use Floral Healing on nearby Pokémon. Its flowers are used to help heal Pokémon in all Pokémon Centers and it visits every morning to provide this service.

Pikachu Celebrity

Location: Hano Grand Resort

In one of the chairs at the Hano Grand Resort, you will find Mr. Chu, a famous Pikachu who stars in many movies and TV. As you speak to him, he will be accosted by a Reporter. Deciding to step in to help, you can battle the reporter. If you do, you will receive a Pikanium Z and be able to teach your Pokémon Volt Tackle from its trainer

Pikachu Wedding

Location: Hano Grand Resort

In the day, you will see some kids who are playing with some Pokémon. They'll ask you if you'll participate in a special wedding for their Pikachu. If you accept, you will get given a Rose Incense

Pyukumuku In Love

Location: Hano Beach

At night, you can go to Hano Beach where you'll see a Pyukumuku staring out into the sea. A young woman will come and explain that he lost his love when someone was doing the Pyukumuku Chucking job. She says that you should look for the Pyukumuku's love as she should have swept up on the beach. Find her and you'll reunited them and receive a Big Pearl. Then, a youngster will appear and throw the female Pyukumuku back in the sea.

Inspirational Stories

Location: Royal Avenue

In Royal Avenue by the fountain, there is a kid feeling down on his luck. Once a day you can talk to him to tell him stories of your exploits in the Battle Royal, Kiawe's Trial, Aether Paradise, Po Town and Ultra Warp Ride and he will gain some further courage and thank you for your help.

Alolan Dugtrio

Location: Konikoni City

Near the benches by the lighthouse of Konikoni City, you will find a salonist who is looking for a Pokémon with long blonde hair. If you show her an Alolan Dugtrio, she will thank you, give you a Dire Hit, and leave to find her own. When you return another time, she will be back with an Alolan Dugtrio but says it doesn't seem to be reacting to her. If you return with Honey Blonde hair, it will start reacting to you and she will realise the colour of your hair is what attracts it. She thanks you with a Soft Sand.

Hypno Crime

Location: Hau'oli City

After completion of the Akala Grand Trial, when you speak to Ilima in the Hau'oli City Police Station, he will mention about three Hypno he believes commited the crime. He will ask you to pick between the three Hypno. Each Hypno has special attributes and moves that are used in the crime.

Location: Hau'oli City

After completion of the Akala Grand Trial, when you go to the Hau'oli City Shopping Mall, you can watch the Bewear Costume Show during the day. During the show, a third Bewear costume will appear on stage, but it soon turns out to be a wild Bewear, which confronts you. If you capture or knock it out, you will get given a Max Potion.

When you speak to the policeman in Route 9's police station he will inform you of the Ditto Five, a group of Ditto that masquerade as humans and he asks for you to investigate them

These Ditto are unique in that they all have fixed natures, all of which are the more common competitively viable ones. They also have 1 maximum IV, 2 IVs of 30 and the rest are random. One even has a 0IV in Attack. You get 30,000 for helping

Location: Hau'oli City Hall

In Hau'oli City Hall, you will encounter a couple who are trying to get married. However, the bride's father has decided that he's not strong enough for his daughter. As you step in, he challenges you to a battle to determine if they can marry. If you succeed, they will marry and you will receive a Nugget.

Stufful Hunting

Location: Route 10

In Route 10, you will find an elderly woman who has lost her Stufful. There are 8 Stufful to find throughout the route and when you retrieve them all, she will give you a Muscle Band

Left Poké Ball

Location: Heahea City

In Heahea City, you'll get given a Poké Ball that someone in the Aether Foundation found that someone had left behind and just won't be released. Take it to Malie City and give it to a girl. The Poké Ball contains the girl's grandfather's Dartrix. The Dartrix really wants to stay with the family so the girl decides she will train it. She'll give you a Mental Herb for your trouble.

Pokémon Center Lady - Breaktime

Location: Malie City

In Malie City, if you go to the Café in the Pokémon Center, the nurse will decide to take a break and join you. She takes her time to explain things to you and will offer you a selection of Poké Beans as thanks.

Sandygast in Trouble

Location: Route 14

In Ultra Sun, you may find a Sandygast and a Preschooler in Route 14. The Sandygast isn't happy due to the black sand that exists in the route and the preschooler asks for your help. If you help, you take the Sandygast to Ula'ula Beach where the sand is much better. You get given some Stardust as thanks.

Beach Bottle

Location: Ula'ula Beach

In Ula'ula Beach, you will find a letter in a bottle on the beach. This letter is from a popular trainer who requests it be delivered to a man in Malie City's Outer Cape. He will give you a Pearl String

Stufful's Lost Trainer

Location: Route 13, Haina Desert

In Route 13's motel, you will find a room which just has a Stufful in. With the people nearby criticising the trainer for leaving it all alone, you need to find his trainer. In Haina Desert you will find a Hiker who has got lost but is thirsty. If you give him a Fresh Water, he will find the strength to return to the motel to reunite with his Stufful. As thanks, he will give you 10 Fresh Water

Aether House Cleaning

Location: Aether House

When you go into the Aether House after completing the Grand Trial on the island, you will hear a noise in the left room. Go in there and a preschooler notes how a mess had been created. Clean up all the mess for the preschooler and Oranguru will come in and give you a PP Up as a thank you.

Mimikyu

Location: Thrifty Megamart

After completing the Grand Trial in Ula'ula Island in the Thrifty Megamart, if you return at night you will activate cutscenes of being followed by a Mimikyu. As you progress through the area, Mimikyu will eventually accost you, with a Pikachu and ask you to pick one to pet. If you pick Mimikyu, then it will be overjoyed, give you the Mimikium Z and then be available to pet outside the Thrifty Megamart in Route 14.

Interview with Tapu Bulu

Location: Thrifty Megamart

After completing the league, you will find a reporter by the Thrifty Megamart in Route 14. She will speak about wanting to interview Tapu Bulu. If you return with Tapu Bulu in your party, she will request an interview with Tapu Bulu and start asking invasive questions about its prior acts. Eventually, Tapu Bulu tires of the interview and returns to its ball. You get a Grassy Seed as thanks.

Forgotten Pokémon

Location: Seafolk Village

In Seafolk Village, you will find a woman struggling with her memory. She asks for you to show her some specific Pokémon, but there are different than normal. When you show her a Magneton, you will get a Paralyze Heal. Show her a Salazzle for a Smoke Ball, and show her an Alolan Exeggutor for a Psychic Seed

Charjabug Puzzle

Location: Mount Hokulani

In Hokulani Observatory, after completing the trial, if you return to the Trial Site, a scientist will say they have made a puzzle based on the trial. This has four difficulties for you to go through. Unlike the trial, you have to get the position and orentiation correct and have to do the puzzle within 4 turns else you fail. If you succeed, you will receive a PP Max

Ilima's Request

Location: Hau'oli City

After you have completed the story, Ilima will ask for a favour when you go to see him in his house. He will give you his Normalium Z and request that you go put it into the pedestal in Verdant Cavern. However, doing so will cause the Totem to attack you. Completion of this gets you the outfit of a Trial Guide

Meowth Battle

Location: Route 1

After you have completed the league, go to your house and speak to Meowth. When you do, a neighbour from Hau'oli known as Madame Meowth will appear with her Meowth. Bragging about hers over the Kanto Meowth, a battle soon ensues and if you select Return to attack the Alolan Meowth, you will win the battle. Your mother reveals she was the Scratch Cat Girl in Kanto and Madame Meowth is shocked. She says she will return another day. Meowth will give you a PP Up

Curious Photograph

Location: Malie City

In Malie Garden's library, look at the green book and you'll find a photograph of a girl and her Mudsdale. Take it to Hapu's grandmother in Ancient Poni Path and she will reminisce and give you a Heart Scale

Eevee Quest

Location: Royal Avenue

After you have completed the game, when you go to the Thrifty Megamart in Royal Avenue, you can speak to this Veteran in the store and he will ask for your help. 30 years ago, he idolised and always tried to beat a collection of trainers who trained Eevee evolutions and as a favour to him, since he cannot do it himself due to life circumstances as he has a wife, a child and a mortgage so he requests that you go across Alola and battle the various Eevee Evolution trainers, giving you a vague location on where to find them. He will give you the Eevium Z Z-Crystal as thanks

Big Nugget

Location: Po Town

After beating Team Skull in Po Town, you will find Office Worker Royce there. He will ask if you want some merchandise, but you need to defeat him in battle to earn his trust. If you do, then you will be able to purchase a Big Nugget for 5,000 each day, which can then be sold for 20,000 giving a net profit of 15,000 a day.

Mohn & Lusamine

Location: Aether Paradise

After you defeated Gladion as a challenger to the Pokémon League, when you go to the Aether Paradise you will see Mohn. When you go to him, Lusamine will spot him and they start having a conversation. Mohn, still with amnesia, compliments Lusamine on the Aether Paradise and notes how he does similar with the Poké Pelago, asking for your input on it. He soon leaves. Gladion asks Lusamine if she's alright leaving things the way they are, and she notes that he seems happy.
