The C-Gear
Like Pokémon Black & White, Pokémon Black 2 & White 2 also utilise the C-Gear for numerous functions. However, there are a few slight changes from Pokémon Black & White. First, you get a Blue one if male and a Pink one if female. This can then be changed in customisation to whatever colour you desire
Aesthetics | |
The most noticiable change on the C-Gear are the aesthetics on the touch screen. These aesthetics have ditched the hexagonallook of Black & White and has gone with a curved look. Unlike before, you can't create multiple entry points for each function, with there only being one portal to each. These however can be moved around the C-Gear using the customise feature. Each specific spot can be put on any of the concentric circles of the C-Gear. |
InfraRed | |
The C Gear's Infa Red options are the parts of the C-Gear that are the most plentiful as there are four options here, although none have changed from Pokémon Black & White. These options require you and your friend to be in close proximity with your DS consoles facing eachother to allow for the IR signal between the two cartridges to be read. These features are as follows
Wireless | |
The C Gear's Wireless option is the feature of the C Gear that you're likely to use the most. Not only does it give multiplayer access, but it provides a vital conduit to accessing the Pokémon you have received from the Dream World. All other Wireless functions are done through the Wireless area in the Pokémon Centres
Wi-Fi | |
There is only one option available for the C Gear over the Wi-Fi Connection. This feature works in-line with the Pokémon Global Link and allows you to sync your game up with the Global Link site
Pass By | |
In the middle of the C-Gear is the feature that allows for you to track people you pass by. When you have connected with a trainer, it will give the word "Connected" in the C-Gear. From there, you can see where the other player is in Unova, send simple messages to them and you can even receive Pass Powers and Support Powers from them. This feature also gives you access to activate your purchased Pass Powers and track the remaining duration of any Support Power obtained. |
Survey Radar | |
Finally, in the bottom left is the Survey Radar option. This option allows you to view data collected when passing by users asking various questions including Play Time, Starter Pokémon and more. In addition to this, you can also check results of any of the surveys set by the Survey Collectors within Castelia City |
