Founded: September 23rd 1889 Headquarters: Kyoto, Japan Nintendo are one of the longest running video game companies in the world. Originally set up as a toy company, the expanded into the arcades in the late 1970s and hit the industry hard with the release of their first console, the Famicom/Nintendo Entertainment System. They are known for many franchises including Mario, The Legend of Zelda and more, and they create various gaming hardware including all the dedicated hardware that the Pokémon games have been on. In addition to publishing the Pokémon games, Nintendo co-own The Pokémon Company and have aided in development of many Pokémon games in history. Nintendo has developed 6 Pokémon Games in total. |
