In an unusual manner, the selection screen sprites from Pokémon Sun & Moon have begun appearing in the Pokémon List, Nearby and Pokédex in Pokémon GO. Currently t is not known why this has happened or for how long this will continue but we'll bring more details as they come

Ahead of the launch of the Research feature later today, The Pokémon Company in Japan have sent out a press release detailing further information about the research feature. First it confirmed that Research Breakthroughs unlocked after collecting 7 stamps, you can gain a gift that when tapped gives you an item or a chance for a Legendary Pokémon. It showed that Moltres is one of the Legendary Pokémon that can appear when you complete it.
You also need to collect Field Research Tasks from PokéStops. Research Tasks are set at each PokéStop each day with players getting the same tasks and the tasks each PokéStop gives changes each day. If you cancel a task, you can receive it again by spinning the same PokéStop. Special Research tasks which lead to Mew are brought up from Professor Willow through an icon that may appear in place of the research icon on the main screen. Players need to be Level 5 or above to go through the Search for Mew story and players can only go through it once

The current Eggstravaganza 2018 event as well as Lugia appearing in Raid Battles are both due to end this coming Monday. The Eggstravaganza 2018 event turns all available eggs into 2km eggs for the duration of the event as well as giving increased candy upon hatching and double Stardust. Lugia is currently available in 5 Star Raid Battles and has Shiny Lugia be a possibility when capturing. Both end on Monday April 2nd at 20:00 UTC (21:00 BST/22:00 CEDT/13:00 PDT/16:00 EDT)

On Monday, a new version of Pokémon Duel is being uploaded following the weekly maintenance. This update is Version 6.0.00 and includes a variety of changes and new feature. In it, some figures are set to be updated

Ahead of the launch of the Research feature on Friday, the new patch has gone live for Pokémon GO on iOS and Android. This patch adds the Research feature as well as the ability to get Mew. It also has changed the UI to allow for the Research tab to be accessed and has moved weather to an icon in the top right. It also sorts Pokémon on the nearby so Pokémon that are yet to be caught will appear at the top of the nearby regardless of if it's at the nearest PokéStop

The next special Group Match has been announced on Pokkén Tournament DX. From April 6th through April 8th you can participate in the "Searing Blaze" Group Match. This cup is a Basic Battle competition, once again on a Fixed Battle Arena. Participating in this brings a special title reward based on Charizard, and if you place highly you'll get other titles based on your placement.

Niantic have announced a new element of Pokémon GO coming on March 30th, special Research tasks. These are done through special bits of research through achieving various objectives such as spinning PokéStops, catching certain Pokémon etc. By doing this, you can earn various stamps. You can earn one stamp each day up to 7 stamps and you can then achive great rewards including Stardust, special items and may even give you the chance to meet Legendary Pokémon and eventually lead to Mew. There are two different kinds of research
Field Research: Spin PokéStops to gain objectives such as hunting down specific Pokémon, battling etc.

Today is the global launch for the latest Pokémon game for the Nintendo 3DS, Detective Pikachu and it is now available on the 3DS eShop as well as in retail stores. We got our copy on Wednesday and have been hard at work playing through the game and collating all the information. As such, our usual discoveries shall begin. Pokémon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon - Battle Competition
Battles for the next Battle Competition have begun. This is the 2018 International Challenge March competition. This is a Double Battle competition using standard VGC rules, with players being able to earn CP to go towards qualification for the World Championships.. All Pokémon will be raised to Level 50 for the duration of the competition. Battles will run from March 23rd through March 25th. All entrants will get the 50 Battle Points.
In addition to this, this allows players to earn Championship Points to go towards a place in the World Championships

Tomorrow is the global launch for the latest Pokémon game for the Nintendo 3DS, Detective Pikachu. We got our copy yesterday and have been hard at work playing through the game and collating all the information. As such, our usual discoveries shall begin. As usual, I'll be posting the main focal points in the site's sections with notes here.

There are three save files in the game. After completion of each chapter, you have the capability to replay it in another save slot, being able to select between the two halves of each of the chapters. When the game is completed, you continue on from the final plot point

The Eggstravaganza 2018 event has begun. This event has all eggs obtained during the event are turned into 2km eggs for the duration of the event so Pokémon from 10km eggs will appear in 2km eggs. This runs from March 22nd through to April 2nd. Candy obtained from hatching eggs is increased, as is Stardust throughout the event. There are also special boxes to be on sale which include Super Incubators and Star Pieces. The boxes are as follows:
Special Box - 480 Coins - 2 Incense, 3 Incubators, 5 Star Pieces
Great Box - 780 Coins - 5 Incense, 5 Super Incubators, 10 Star Pieces

The special Gym Cup, the Flying Gym Cup has begun in Pokémon Duel. This Gym Cup increases the movement of Flying-type figures and increases the White & Gold Attacks of Electric-type Pokémon by 20. Within this, you can get the special Mega Salamence figure. It runs until Marh 26th 2018

Pokémon Sun, Moon, Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon - Regigigas & Heatran Reminder
For those of you in Europe and Oceania, the second month of the Legendary Pokémon Year events is due to end on Saturday. Until March 24th 2018, players will be able to get a Regigigas in Pokémon Sun and Ultra Sun or Heatran in Pokémon Moon and Ultra Moon simply by going through Mystery Gift > Get Via Internet. These distributions differ between Sun & Moon and Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon with the Pokémon being Level 60 in Sun & Moon and Level 100 holding a Gold Bottle Cap in Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon. Our Event Database has full details of this event.

The fifth Pokémon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon Global Mission has finished in failure. This Global Mission's theme was to trade Pokémon on the GTS and was a failure at only 771,567 Pokémon traded. As it was a failure, the gift of 1,000 FC, or 2,000 FC if the game is connected to the Global Link, is now available.

For those of you in North America, the codes for the second month of the Legendary Pokémon Year events have begun to be sent out. These codes come in the Trainer Club Newsletter and each e-mail only provides one code. players will be able to get a Regigigas in Pokémon Sun and Ultra Sun or Heatran in Pokémon Moon and Ultra Moon. These distributions differ between Sun & Moon and Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon with the Pokémon being Level 60 in Sun & Moon and Level 100 holding a Gold Bottle Cap in Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon. Pokkén Tournament DX - DLC Wave 2
Some new details have been confirmed for the Pokkén Tournament DX DLC coming out next week. This comes with a variety of screenshots of Blastoise and Mew/Celebi support. Its Burst Attack will cause it to Mega Evolve into Mega Blastoise and then attacks hard. It starts close range but gains distance. Mew uses the move Miracle Power, one unique to this game which increases Synergy Gauge, and even Attack and Critical Hits. Celebi uses an attack that will cause a Phase Shift, even if the move is blocked. We've added over a dozen new screenshots to our page so be sure to check it out. There are also new player outfits as well as new outfits for Nia. The Player Outfits are: Blastoise T-Shirt, Rock Guitar Set, Bi-Colour Hair, Glasses and Refreshing Stole

The next special Group Match has been announced on Pokkén Tournament DX. From March 23rd through March 25th you can participate in the "Gun Destruction" Group Match. This cup is a Team Battle competition, once again on a Fixed Battle Arena. Participating in this brings a special title reward based on Blastoise, and if you place highly you'll get other titles based on your placement.

Niantic have announced the next element of this month's Pokémon GO Community Day. All Venusaur that have evolved from Ivysaur during the duration of the Community Day on March 25th will have the move Frenzy Plant, a move that no other Pokémon currently has in the game. This runs at specific times:

Following the announcement yesterday, Rayquaza has now left Raid Battles and Lugia will be starting to appear in Raid Battles globally in Pokémon GO. With this, the move Sky Attack has received an increase in damage output from 70 to 80, with all Pokémon knowing Sky Attack getting the boost. Lugia is in Raid Battles until April 2nd 2018

Pokémon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon - Battle Competition
Registration for the next Battle Competition have begun. This is the 2018 International Challenge March competition. This is a Double Battle competition using standard VGC rules, with players being able to earn CP to go towards qualification for the World Championships.. All Pokémon will be raised to Level 50 for the duration of the competition. Registration runs from March 15th 2018 to March 22nd 2018. Battles will run from March 23rd through March 25th. All entrants will get the 50 Battle Points.
In addition to this, this allows players to earn Championship Points to go towards a place in the World Championships

The first images from CoroCoro have leaked and have revealed the latest news. As always, do note that translations are preliminary while we work on them.
This reveals that, as expected, Lugia is to be distributed to Pokémon Sun, Moon, Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon through Serial Code from April 13th to July 12th when you prebook tickets for the upcoming movie, Everyone's Story with codes redeemable until September 30th. This Lugia is Level 100 with its Hidden Ability Multiscale and the moves Aeroblast, Defog, Tailwind, & Hurricane, a move it can't normally learn. The Lugia is nicknamed the Wind Lugia, possibly due to only knowing Flying-type moves and matching the premise of the movie where people come to the Wind Festival in Fura City. Ahead of the game's launch in two weeks, a special demo version of Detective Pikachu has gone live on the Nintendo 3DS eShop in Japan. It requires 1,765 blocks/220MB to download. This demo features the first part of the game and the progress in the demo will carry over to the full game upon launch in two weeks. The next TCG set has been officially confirmed by The Pokémon Company International. This set is called Forbidden Light, based on the Japanese set of the same name which was released earlier this month, and features over 130 cards, based on the Kalos Region, and includes various Pokémon GX and Ultra Beasts including Naganadel and Ultra Necrozma, as well as more Prism Cards. It's due for release in North America and Europe on May 4th 2018.

For those of you with Pokémon Bank, new distributions have begun. These provide the Alolan Starters Decidueye, Incineroar and Primarina with their Hidden Abilities of Long Reach, Intimidate and Liquid Voice to all players. These all have your OT/ID and have no special moves and can be picked up from the Pokémon Center after receiving them on Bank. It's currently unknown when this distribution will end. Pokémon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon - Special Battle Season 9
The Special Battle rules for Season 9 have been revealed. Season 9 will run from March 13th to May 14th 2018 and runs on Sun & Moon and Pokémon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon, with rankings separate to eachother. This ruleset blocks usage of Mega Stones, Z-Crystals, Focus Sash and Eviolite and you can only select 2 Pokémon for the battle
Battle type: Double Battle
Pokémon Restrictions: National Pokédex. No Mewtwo, Mew, Lugia, Ho-Oh, Celebi, Kyogre, Groudon, Rayquaza, Jirachi, Deoxys, Dialga, Palkia, Giratina, Phione, Manaphy, Darkrai, Shaymin, Arceus, Victini, Reshiram, Zekrom, Kyurem, Keldeo, Meloetta, Genesect, Xerneas, Yveltal, Zygarde, Diancie, Hoopa, Volcanion, Cosmog, Cosmoem, Solgaleo, Lunala, Necrozma, Magearna, and Marshadow.
The other standard rules apply, including all set to Level 50 if above that, and you choose 2 Pokémon out of your 6, and you cannot have two Pokémon holding the same hold item. Battles have a 10 minute duration, with turns having a 60 second timer.

The fifth Pokémon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon Global Mission has begun. This Global Mission's theme is to trade Pokémon on the GTS. The goal is to reach 1,000,000 Pokémon traded by March 19th at 23:59 UTC. If the mission is a success, then participating players get 2,000 FC or 4,000 FC if they have a Global Link account tied to their game while if it's a failure players will get 1,000 FC or 2,000 FC if they have a Global Link account tied to their game.

Legendary Week in Pokémon GO is due to end on Monday. During this, Kyogre and Groudon will appear again in Raid Battles in Pokémon GO along with Rayquaza. Following this, depending on which of the three Legendary Pokémon are defeated the most, from March 5th to March 16th, the egg distributions will be different. If Rayquaza is most defeated, then Psychic, Dragon and Flying-type Pokémon will appear more in eggs, otherwise more Water, Ground, Fire etc. types will appear in eggs.

Pokémon Duel - Update
The smartphone game, Pokémon Duel, has had a new update. This patch takes it to version 5.0.9 and requires 247MB of space on your mobile device to download. It is required to update in order to play the game
This patch contains various brand new figures.
The UX Figures are Xurkitree, Celesteela & Mega Ampharos,
The EX Figures are Ampharos & Eelektross
The R Figures are Eelektrik
The UC Figures are Tynamo, Flaaffy, & Luxio
Several new Plates have also been added to the store
In addition to this, the balance patches announced yesterday have gone into effect
