The Game Boy Advance was the third and final iteration of the Game Boy and introduced Shoulder Buttons to the design. It was more powerful, allowing for 16 bit colours and more intricate games.. It also had backwards compatibility with all Game Boy and Game Boy Color titles. Its first interaction with the Pokémon franchise was with Pokémon Ruby & Sapphire, the first games of the third generation.

Game Boy Micro

The Game Boy Micro was a small variant of the console, offering a small screen and buttons so it could fit in any pocket. The device allowed for multiple different faceplates so it could be styled to taste. Unlike the other Game Boy Advance models, it cannot play Game Boy or Game Boy Color titles nor use any peripherals including link cables
