Kingler, The Pincer Pokémon. It waves its huge, oversized claw in the air to communicate with others. But since the claw is so heavy, it quickly tires. Its large and hard pincer has 10,000-horsepower strength. However, being so big, it is unwieldy to move. Its pincers grow peculiarly large. If it lifts the pincers too fast, it loses its balance and staggers. It can hardly lift its massive, overgrown pincer. The pincer's size makes it difficult to aim properly. Battle Moveset A Good Moveset for Kingler would have to be this: Attacks:
Return / Body Slam Items Attached: Leftovers Preferred Nature: Adamant OR Brave OR Naughty Strategy Using Kingler Kingler is a UU poke and even by UU standards it's rarely seen due to inferiority to other UU physical sweepers. It's still capable however and is one of the better Pokémon with Knock Off access. Knock Off can deprive your opponent (usually a physical wall) of their Leftovers which will proceed to make the process of sweeping easier. Sword Dance and offence is a pretty simple strategy to understand, whilst it's special defence is lacking it's physical defence is suitable and can take several hits so while caution should be taken against special attacks, un-boosted physical attacks will usually be withstood. Surf or Hidden Power [Ground] are filler choices, one can catch electric Pokémon switching in and covers 2 of the Normal attack resisters, the other gains STAB and can KO a common physical wall such as Golem as well as hitting for super effective against most Rock types and doing suitable damage to Steels (which tend to have low special defence). Hyper Cutter is the preferable nature for Kingler, blocking Intimidate as well as other occasionally seen de-boosts such as Charm. EV Corner:
EVs: 212 HP / 160 Atk / 136 Def 304 HP and 300 Def for taking a suitable amount of hits while maintaining enough attack to launch offence with or without Sword Dance support. Special Attack is worth consideration if using Surf to KO specific Pokémon and speed is optional since Kingler's Speed stat is suitable. Other Optional Sets
Kingler @ Salac Berry End/Sub-Flailer, plenty of Pokémon are much better suited for this set and with Quick Attack being essential in the majority of UU teams it's hard to pull off successfully, however, it remains a viable option and with Kingler's minimal use it's also an effective one. Other Optional Moves Haze, Amnesia, Ice Beam, Crabhammer. Haze is a good move but not particularly effective when used on Kingler, especially since it negates it's ability to use Sword Dance. Amnesia is never a wise idea due to the likelihood of critical hits but it's a decent move and noteworthy of mention. Ice Beam is just a good move that it can't use effectively. Crabhammer is novelty at best, it's accuracy and PP are less than Surf but it has a high Critical hit ratio, it isn't worth relying on the luck of Critical Hits of but it's an option over Surf should you choose that route. Strategy Against Kingler Special attacks is the main anti-Kingler offence. It's special defence and HP are both severely lacking and easily exposed, even against weak special attacks. It's physical defence is above average and it lacks physical weaknesses but it's low HP and lack of self-recovery mean it can't take repeated beatings and will struggle against boosted attacks. If it lacks Surf a lot of physical walls can get in it's way, namely Rock and Steel types. Even with Hidden Power [Ground] it's exposed to Solrock and Misdreavus among other things. It's speed is average but it can be outran by many common Pokémon, the most noteworthy example is Manetric. It's weak move pool will leave it easily predictable and you'll be assured that the only (decent) physical moves at it's disposal are normal typed or a Hidden Power, allowing a lack of STAB to be capitalised on. Contest Moveset A good Contest Moveset for Kingler would have to be this for the TBeauty Contest best with Modest, Mild, Rash or Quiet Nature: Attacks:
Rain Dance Items Attached: Blue Scarf Strategy Using Kingler If you do the attacks in this following order you should have very few problems; 1st - Rain dance, 2nd - Surf/Water Pulse, 3rd - Rain dance, 4th - Surf/Water Pulse, 5th - Hyper beam Locations in Games
