Gothitelle, The Astral Body Pokémon. Starry skies thousands of light-years away are visible in the space distorted by their intense psychic power. They can predict the future from the placement and movement of the stars. They can see Trainers' life spans. Overview Gothitelle is a Pokémon that has a few uses. Unlike most of the Psychic-types, Gothitelle has got some decent defences physically, allowing it to be able to withstand more of the physical Dark-type hits. However, other than that, Gothitelle is mediocre. Its physical attack is really low, which is fine due to a lack of physical moves but its special stat is an average base 95. As such, it's outclassed easily by a lot of other Psychic-types, but it has its own niches that it can use Abilities Frisk: This ability is Gothitelle's only ability currently available. With it, you can scope out the hold items of the opponents as you send Gothitelle into battle. This allows you to scope out their strategies and attempt to make it so that they can't run that strategy. Movesets Wall Breaker - Psyshock This is THE set to use. When released it will dwarf anything else Gothitelle can do. Psyshock outruns and destroys Conledurr, Breloom, Tentacruel, Terrakion, Venusaur and Blissey. HP Ice breaks down Gliscor and Donphan, allowing something like your own Terrakion or Tyranitar to sweep interrupted.. but HP Fire can be used to wipe out Ferrothorn, Scizor, Forretress etc. Thunderbolt blows away Skarmory, Cloyster, Gyarados, Jellicent, Politoed, Starmie and Vaporeon before they can beat you. Grass Knot is almost exclusively for Gastrodon but that's such a good thing to KO that many teams crumble afterwards. It also hits Tyranitar for about 65% and you are faster. Dual Screens - Reflect This is the standard Dual Screens set. With it, you can set up your team's defenses so that they can take hits. Reflect for physical and Light Screen for special, with Light Clay extending the duration. Taunt can be used to prevent the opponent from running any support moves and Thunder Wave and Toxic can cripple the opponent Calm Mind - Calm Mind Gothitelle can be used as a special attacker. With Calm Mind, it can boost up its stats, allowing it to do even more damage. Psychic is your classic STAB move, with the potential of lowering the opponent's Special Defense. Shadow Ball and Dark Pulse provide some decent alternatives typewise, hitting Psychic and Ghost-types that can be used to attempt to wall Gothitelle. Hidden Power can be simply used in order to take out Steel and Dark-types Trick Room - Calm Mind Gothitelle doesn't have the best speed so Trick Room can be a good idea. As such, you need to destroy as much of Gothitelle's speed as possible. Trick Room can be set up by Gothitelle itself or by another Pokémon in its team while the other moves work in a manner similar to the other set EVs & Natures Gothitelle Other Options Embargo, Heal Block, Magic Room, Psyshock Double & Triple Battle Options Gothitelle works best as a support Pokémon so it has a lot of options. If you're running a Dual Screen Gothitelle, you can easily help shore up any strong but weak defensed Pokémon Partners Gothitelle is a slow Pokémon so partners you'd like are ones that can set up Trick Room easily. In addition to this, you may end up getting walled by Pokémon with high Special Defense which will require a physical behemoth such as Haxorus to step in and take them out Countering Gothitelle Gothitelle is a support Pokémon with high defences so what you need to do first is to Taunt it with any of the various Taunt users, Murkrow is a decent example of this as it has Prankster. This will restrict Gothitelle from setting up the rest of the team. Pokémon with moves such as Brick Break can work well against the dual screen capabilities of Gothitelle. Other than disruption, use strong physical orientated Bug & Dark-types such as Absol, Armaldo, Weavile, Skuntank etc. to break its physical defence Locations in Games Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald: FireRed/LeafGreen: Colosseum/XD: Diamond/Pearl/Platinum: HeartGold/SoulSilver: Black/White: Animé Appearences
