Cofagrigus, The Coffin Pokémon. It has been said that they swallow those who get too close and turn them into mummies. They like to eat gold nuggets. They pretend to be elaborate coffins to teach lessons to grave robbers. Their bodies are covered in pure gold. Overview Cofagrigus is awesome. He's like… an offensive Dusknoir, with a cooler feel about him. Bulky as hell too, with a ridiculous Defence and a good Special Defence… it's a shame about the lack of recovery. Oh well, Cofagrigus is a king. Mummy is an awesome ability that shuts down certain physical sweepers such as Breloom, Conkeldurr, Scizor, Excadrill, things that rely on their abilities staying. If contact is made, the opponent is given Mummy, replacing their former ability. Really awesome, and it makes Cofagrigus unique Abilities Mummy: as I said, when contact is made, the opponent's ability is changed to Mummy, which completely shuts down certain Pokémon. Movesets Calm Mind up in this - Shadow Ball Calm Mind gives you offensive prowess as well as a huge brick wall to play with. Shadow Ball is your main STAB, with Hidden Power [Fighting] providing the best coverage possible. Will-O-Wisp can burn the opponent, putting a DoT on them. Disable is actually good now, as it has improved accuracy. Calm Mind I've already gone into. Rest is your only recovery move, but Cofagrigus is bulky enough to likely survive the 2 sleeping turns. Standard bulky Ghost thing that Dusclops has done since gen 3 - Shadow Ball / Hex Standard support Ghost. Shadow Ball is your strongest STAB move, Hex works well with Will-O-Wisp. Haze can ruin stuff like CMJirachi, or even just something with +2 Attack. It puts a stop to their sweep. Disable can also ruin something, especially a Choiced Pokémon, as it is then forced to switch out. Rest gives you some recovery. Trick Room support/sweep - Trick Room Trick Room reverses the way Speed works. Slow goes fast, fast goes last. Pretty good when your base Speed is so dire like our coffin friend's. Calm Mind gives you +1 Special Attack and +1 Special Defence, allowing you to go for a sweep. Nasty Plot gives you +2 Special Attack, which can be very dangerous. Will-O-Wisp burns and hurts, it's awesome. Haze can stop sweepers dead, Disable forces switches or stops healing, Rest heals you. Shadow Ball deals great damage, Hex deals better damage against a Pokémon inflicted with status, Hidden Power [Fighting] gets amazing coverage with Ghost attacks. EVs & Natures Bulky Ghost coffin Other Options Destiny Bond, Energy Ball, Grass Knot, Grudge, Mean Look, Memento, Toxic Double & Triple Battle Options You can play around with Mummy, obviously. Putting Mummy on Slaking and what not to make them pretty damn deadly. You can also run it as a Trick Roomer, or as general support. It gets Safeguard which is cool for protecting from status. Imprison can stop the opponent from using certain moves, but it isn't that handy on the Coffin Ghost. Partners There are numerous Pokémon that can work well with Cofagrigus. First, Trick Room users such as Reuniclus are great partners in order to get the best out of Cofagrigus. Fighting-types are also good partners in order to take out Cofagrigus' weakness Countering Cofagrigus If it doesn't have Rest, it has no recovery. Toxic will kill him so easily it is sad. In addition to that, Taunt users can do some damage, preventing Cofagrigus from setting up various moves as well as preventing it from being able to heal itself. As its defences are strong, you really need to pummel it and avoid contact moves where possible Locations in Games Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald: FireRed/LeafGreen: Colosseum/XD: Diamond/Pearl/Platinum: HeartGold/SoulSilver: Black/White: Animé Appearences
