Leavanny, The Nurture Pokémon. It keeps its eggs warm with heat from fermenting leaves. It also uses leaves to make warm wrappings for Sewaddle.Upon finding a small Pokémon, it weaves clothing for it from leaves, using the cutters on its arms and sticky silk. Overview Despite having a pretty cool design and a super adorable pre-evo (I'm looking at you Sewaddle), Leavanny is pretty underwhelming. It has alright Speed and Attack, but to really make use of these assets. Bug/Grass is a terrible typing, both offensively and defensively. Its movepool is also seriously lacking. It has four attacking moves worth using, and that is it. Sure, it only needs three if you are using Swords Dance, but it makes you so predictable and... doesn't everyone like choice? Anyway, there's no chance Leavanny will see the upper tiers. If you do see it, you deal with it how you deal with every Grass type. It isn't all bad news though. Swords Dance could deal some serious damage, and, with Drought existing, Chlorophyll becomes a very, very good ability. Much better than Swarm and Overcoat, anyway. Abilities Swarm: Your Bug attacks get way stronger once you hit 33% of your max health. Useful with Substitute. Apply your Sun Screen - Reflect This is Leavanny's niche. It's the only dual screener with Chlorophyll. Basically, run it on a Drought team. Reflect and Light Screen double your defences for the team for 8 turns (if you are using Light Clay), which is potentially enough time to win, if you run a heavy offence team. X-Scissor and Leaf Blade allow you to deal some damage with your acceptable Attack stat. Swords Dance “Sweeper” - Swords Dance Swords Dance gives you offensive potential. X-Scissor and Leaf Blade provide both your STAB and most useful attacks. The final slot is a toss up. Return is the most powerful and has nice base power even without STAB. Shadow Claw gives you some extra coverage against Ghosts and what not. Baton Pass gets you out of there without relinquishing your Attack boosts, so use it and pass to something that would keep the advantage on your side. Baton Pass - X-Scissor / Leaf Blade / Agility / Swords Dance / Calm Mind / Hone Claws / Grasswhistle / Substitute Oh my God, so many options! Yeah, this is basically Leavanny's entire movepool. X-Scissor or Leaf Blade to stop you from being complete Taunt bait. Agility boosts your Speed, Swords Dance boosts your Attack, Calm Mind boosts your Special Attack and Special Defence, Hone Claws boosts your Attack and Accuracy, Grasswhistle puts the opponent to sleep (boredom from waiting for it to hit most likely), and Substitute protects you and the recipient from damage. Baton Pass passes whatever boosts you want to pass onto which ever Pokémon you want to pass to. Flailing around looking for more moves - Swords Dance Swords Dance boosts your Attack, giving you a somewhat threatening presence. Flail, at 1 HP, has an obscene 200 base power. We're talking close to Explosion territory. X-Scissor and Leaf Blade are your STAB attacks that can be handy in case everything goes pear shaped. Shadow Claw ruins any Ghosts trying to switch into Flail. EVs & Natures Have you seen Leavanny's defensive stats? I'm not even going to explain why you should run 252 Attack and 252 Speed Other Options Choice, special attacks, Aerial Ace, Camouflage, Me First, Poison Jab, Safeguard, Screech Double & Triple Battle Options What's there to talk about? It gets Chlorophyll so can be used on a doubles sun team. It gets Protect which is a great move in multiple Pokémon battles. Light Screen and Reflect would be useful if it could set them up in time. It can do a bit of damage with its physical attacks. The main reason you'd want to use Leavanny in doubles or triples is for Entrainment. It gives the Pokémon you use it on your ability, which would be Chlorophyll. It allows for likely cool combos such as Heatran in sun with Chlorophyll, or Darmanitan. It's a cool move that is pretty much Leavanny's only saving grace in multi Pokémon battles. That's pretty much it. Partners Ideally, Ninetales. Or even Vulpix. You want sun out at all times as it turns Leavanny from nothing into... sort of something. Something else you want is a Steel remover. Leavanny has nothing to cover Steels, absolutely nothing. If a Steel Pokémon exists, Leavanny is walled completely. Magneton is probably the best choice for a lower tier Steel killer. A spinner would be nice such as Claydol. You want to remove Steels, Fires, and Flying types so you can actually possibly do something. What's there to talk about? It gets Chlorophyll so can be used on a doubles sun team. It gets Protect which is a great move in multiple PokĂ©mon battles. Light Screen and Reflect would be useful if it could set them up in time. It can do a bit of damage with its physical attacks. Countering Leavanny Leavanny cannot touch Steels at all. It has no moves that even hit for neutral damage. Magneton, Aggron, Klinklang, Steelix, Mawile, Registeel, Bastiodon, Probopass, Bisharp, Duarant, any Steel you can think of will wall Leavanny completely. Any Fire Pokémon you want can OHKO Leavanny and take pretty much anything it can dish out. Rapidash, Flareon, Moltres, Entei, Torkoal, Emboar, Simisear, Heatmor, any Fire type you want can ruin Leavanny. Same with Flying types. Butterfree, Pidgeot, Fearow, Dodrio, Articuno, Noctowl, Ledian, Togetic, Beautifly, Swellow, Masquerain, Altaria, Mothin, Vespiquen, Drifblim, Chatot, Rotom-F, Unfezant, Braviary, this section is boring to read now. There's so many things that can stop Leavanny it isn't funny. This probably isn't even half of what I could have listed, I just went for these three types and any Pokémon that weren't high tier. I think adding anymore would have been a waste of time, as this clearly shows how stoppable Leavanny is. Yeah, It can potentially do damage, and it is useful as the only Chlorophyll Dual Screener, but... it's honestly pretty bad. Sewaddle is apparently pretty good in Little Cup. I wouldn't know, I've never actually played Little Cup, so if I'm wrong, hit me with a PM. Swadloon is much more interesting. With Eviolite its defences reach over 400 (if you're running 4 HP/252 Def/252 SDef like you should be with most Eviolite users), and it gets Leaf Guard, giving it the best recovery possible with Rest. You won't be doing any damage outside of Toxic thanks to your base... awful Attack and Special Attack. However, X-Scissor or Leaf Blade... even SolarBeam can be used, if only to stop you being ruined by Taunt. Rest / Toxic / Protect / Substitute or Leaf Blade or X-Scissor or SolarBeam is probably the best set it can run. I'm not saying it is good, but it is usable thanks to Eviolite and Leaf Guard.
