Leafeon

Leafeon, The Verdant Pokémon. It basically does not fight. With cells similar to those of plants, it can perform photosynthesis. Just like a plant, it uses photosynthesis. As a result, it is always enveloped in clear air. When you see Leafeon asleep in a patch of sunshine, you'll know it is using photosynthesis to produce clean air.

Overview

Leafeon is a fairly decent Pokémon, but not the best Eevee evolution. Being the long-awaited Grass-type evolution, it turned out to be quite a physical based Pokémon giving it a decent amount of possibilities. However, as its Special stats are low, it is even more vulnerable to quite a few threats on it. It's fully capable of holding its own though and can take it Physical walls.

Abilities

Leaf Guard: This is a fairly decent ability which prevents Leafeon from getting hit by status afflictions in sunlight. As Burn and Poison are both quite common on many Leafeon counters, it will help it survive longer
Chlorophyll: Doubles Leafeon's speed in sunshine. Although sunshine makes Fire-type moves more powerful, Leafeon's base speed becomes 190 which means it can outspeed almost every Pokémon. Coupled with its decent attack, it can be quite useful.

Movesets

Choiceon

- Leaf Blade
- Return/Quick Attack.
- Aerial Ace
- X-Scissor
Item Attached: Choice Band/Choice Scarf
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs & Nature: Adamant 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd

A simple Choice set made up of Leafeon's unfortunately limited movepool. If you have sun support, use Choice Band. If not, use Choice Scarf. Leaf Blade is your STAB attack. Return hits hard whereas Quick Attack has priority. Aerial Ace deals with bugs. X-Scissor just for added coverage.

Baton Peon

- Substitute
- Swords Dance
- Synthesis/Toxic/Yawn
- Leaf Blade
Item Attached: Leichi Berry/Salac Berry
Ability: Clorophyll
EVs & Nature: Adamant - 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd

This set is best to use with sun support. With your speed doubled, it's very easy to set up Substitutes (and potentially activating Leichi/Salac Berry). You can Swords Dance behind your Subs and use Synthesis to regain 2/3 of your HP. If you've not got sun support, you can use Toxic or Yawn instead to inflict status upon your opponent or cause a switch. You can Baton Pass your Sub and/or Swords Dance to other Pokemon. Leaf Blade is there as an attacking option.

Bladeon

- Swords Dance/Sunny Day
- Leaf Blade
- Return/Aerial Ace/X-Scissor/Quick Attack
- Return/Aerial Ace/X-Scissor/Quick Attack
Item Attached: Focus Sash
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs & Nature: Adamant - 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd

Once again, this set is easier to use with sun support. If you have it, run a Swords Dance set. If not, run Sunny Day to get your speed boost (and change your opponent's weather if they have set something up). Leaf Blade is your STAB attack. The last two slots depend on your preference. Much like the Choice set, Return hits harder than Quick Attack but lacks priority, Aerial Ace deals with Bug-types and X-Scissor adds some coverage.

EVs & Natures

Every Leafeon
Max your Attack and Speed so that you can get as much damage in as quick as possible. This is vital considering its lack of Special Defences

Other Options

Charm, Heal Ball, Iron Tail, Wish
Charm works as a phazing move and a defensive move, which I guess is alright as you don't have Roar.
Heal Bell As Sunshine isn't always going to be around or best for Leaf Guard so Heal Bell can heal your statuses completely.
Iron Tail Gives Leafeon some further coverage against Ice-type Pokémon.
Leaf Guard Prevents status afflictions in sunshine. Always handy.
Wish will give you a decent Hit Point increase should you be unable or unwilling to use Synthesis

Double & Triple Battle Options

Leafeon really isn't designed for Double & Triple battles and works much better in Singles. That said, it has Heal Bell and Wish which can be handy for the other team mates

Partners

There are a few good partners for Leafeon. First, Ninetales with Drought is a brilliant choice as it will bring perpetual sunshine to the battle. Other Fire-types with Sunny Day will also be helpful. Having Ground-type partners like Excadrill, Hippowdon, Dugtrio etc. are also quite handy as they can take out almost everything that resists Leafeon; Fire, Steel and Poison types.

Countering Leafeon

Despite Leafeon's great potential to sweep, its movepool is a big let-down. Any Steel-type without a second type which Leafeon's got an advantage over can wall it. Skarmory in particular would be great at this with its high Defense, its dual resistance to Leafeon's STAB attacks and the chance to hit Leafeon with a super effective hit. Leafeon's at its best in sunshine so if you can stop sunshine, you can stop Leafeon. As Leafeon is also best in sunshine, Fire-type Pokémon are core at taking Leafeon out since their moves get increased in power. Ice-types, Poison-types and since Generation V has introduced a plethora of strong and varied Bug-types all can do decent damage. Volcarona is another massive thorn in Leafeon's side, being able to take it out with Special moves or strong types
