Lickilicky, The Licking Pokémon. The long tongue is always soggy with slobber. The saliva contains a solvent that causes numbness.Their saliva contains lots of components that can dissolve anything. The numbness caused by their lick does not dissipate. It wraps things with its extensible tongue. Getting too close to it will leave you soaked with drool. It has space in its throat to store saliva. It can also roll up its tongue and store it in the same spot. Overview Lickilicky joined the ranks of the rotund, pink, bulky Normal types in DPP and was unfortunately overshadowed by his compatriots with shorter tongues, and thus mainly sticks to lower tiers, although it is viable in higher ones thanks to its bulk and broad movepool. Lickilicky has excellent HP, combined with above average defensive stats and a great support movepool. But not only that Lickilicky can use offensive sets as well, with a decent base 85 Attack stat that can either be boosted by Swords Dance or by a Choice Band. The only letdown with Lickilicky really is its Speed, which is an unfortunate base 50. Nevertheless, Lickilicky can be both an excellent cleric as well as an attacker in lower tiers. Abilities Own Tempo: Prevents Lickilicky from being confused, a great ability in NeverUsed which is rampant with Liepards using Swagger on everything, but not too useful elsewhere. Movesets Funny, I have a few thousand stamps for you -Wish This set is used as the standard big fat pink blob o'doom set, with a familiar variant being used by all of our chunky Normal types. Wish gives Licklicky (and its team) a reliable source of healing, with Protect ensuring that Licklicky can get it if it needs it. The last two slots are dependent on what you need. Heal Bell gets rid of all of your team's status conditions, and Dragon Tail allows Lickilicky to phaze out and damage Pokemon it chooses, generally Pokemon trying to set up on Lickilicky. Body Slam and Return are both used for STAB damage, as well as allowing Lickilicky to avoid becoming Taunt bait, with Body Slam paralyzing the opponent every once in a while and return doing more damage but with no additional effects. Cloud Nine is not an option for Lickilicky's ability on this set unfortunately as Wish is not compatible with the ability. Icky Icky, Lickilicky -Return What makes Lickilicky stand out from other CB options is its incredible bulk. Even though it has a mediocre 85 Attack stat, Lickilicky can take multiple hits and then dish out strong hits thanks to its Band. Return functions as the main STAB move, while Explosion is used as secondary STAB. Explosion is an extremely powerful move that is a basically guaranteed OHKO against any Pokemon that doesn't resist it, and even then it does considerable damage (I mean, for comparison, Explosion could 2HKO defensive Skarmory). Power Whip is used as coverage against Golurk or Alomomola, which Normal types usually have problems with, as well as other Ground / Rock / Water types. Lastly, Earthquake is used as coverage against Steel types, such as Lairon, Bastiodon, and Metang, while Fire Punch does damage to these Pokemon as well as giving Lickilicky a decent option for hitting Ghost types. Tongue Slap! -Substitute This may seem like a strange EV build with its low attack investment but the trick lies in the large amount of bulk it provides which allows Lickilicky to set up multiple Swords Dances easily. Substitute may seem redundant, but it’s very difficult to break one of Lickilicky’s subs, making a free set up for an SD an even bigger possibility. Both Body Slam and Return act as Lickilicky’s main STAB. Body Slam offers less power in return for a possible paralysis, while Return does more damage. Power Whip is used as a coverage move to hit Steel (mainly Rock / Steel and Ground / Steel types) and Ghost type enemies so they do not wall Lickilicky completely. Other Options Aqua Tail, Belly Drum, Brick Break, Disable, Fire Blast, Focus Blast, Ice Punch, Thunder, Thunderpunch, Work Up, Zen Headbutt Double & Triple Battle Options Between Explosion and Cloud Nine, Lickilicky has a decent niche in Doubles and Triples, especially with the ever common weather users being everywhere. Partners Lickilicky generally has problems with Ghost and Fighting Types, so Dark types such as Skuntank can generally handle Ghosts like Misdreavus and Drifblim, while the aforementioned Ghosts and some Psychics (Gardevoir, Musharna, etc.) can help handle Fighting types like Sawk. Countering Lickilicky As kind of mentioned in the Partners section, Fighting and Ghost types can cause Lickilicky a lot of headaches, especially with the offensive sets. Fighting types like Gurdurr, Sawk, and Primeape all can cut Lickilicky down to size with Drain Punch / Close Combat. Ghost types like Misdreavus, Drifblim, and Haunter all do extremely well against Lickilicky, not even being able to be touched by some of the sets. Golurk is another option, though it has to worry about being Power Whipped. Physical walls like Regirock and Tangela can handle the attacking sets very well, and can often give Lickilicky a status condition or slowly wear it down. Taunting the cleric set works to counter it, which Skuntank, Misdreavus, and the like can do.
