Celebi, The Time Travel Pokémon. It has the power to travel across time, but it is said to appear only in peaceful times. This Pokémon wanders across time. Grass and trees flourish in the forests in which it has appeared. When it disappears deep in a forest, it is said to leave behind an egg it brought from the future. This Pokémon came from the future by crossing over time. It is thought that so long as Celebi appears, a bright and shining future awaits us. Overview Celebi is a brilliant Pokémon, but it has major flaws. While its concept is so awesome that the site is based on it, with this entry being done for the site's 13th birthday, it has a myriad of weaknesses that are ever growing. Having 7 type weaknesses, though with 6 different resistances, it cannot withstand too many hits. Despite this, its stats help it hang on, which is why its standing competitively is always in question. Abilities Natural Cure: Celebi's only ability. It will heal status conditions when Celebi switches out. Very handy if you end up Paralysed or hit by Toxic. Movesets A Madman With a Box Without the Box - Nasty Plot A pretty standard set here. If you can set it up, use Nasty Plot to boost Celebi's Special Attack. Giga Drain can provide decent damage with healing should you choose not to use Recover while Energy Ball can get the damage in. Earth Power and Psychic provide some decent Special moves that can do some serious damage to the opponents. Hidden Power can put in some coverage where Celebi doesn't normally get it; Fire can take out the Bug-types that Celebi fears and Ice gives further coverage All of Time and Space...Where do you want to start? - Leaf Storm A standard Choice Specs set. Leaf Storm can do some serious, crippling damage to nearly any opponent. Earth Power, Ancient Power. Hidden Power and Shadow Ball can provide significant coverage to take down many potential counters and Psychic provides STAB. This set can typically take down any wall or, at the very worst, cripple an opponent. I'm Regenerating... - Substitute This set is essentially a massive stalling set. You set up a Substitute and Leech Seed, the standard subseed idea. However, with the various recovery moves, and the use of the Big Root, you can recover more Hit Points allowing you to rinse and repeat at will. Giga Drain will help you take out the opponents, but Recover is a pacifistic approach. Hidden Power can give you decent coverage against the opponents if you choose to go offensive within the set Hello, I'm the Doctor - Thunder Wave The final set is a standard supporting set for Celebi. Thunder Wave can cripple many an opponent, and due to Celebi's speed, it will likely hit before many opponents can get a hit in. Recover is obvious in that it will heal Celebi of any damage. Reflect & Light Screen can help support your team in lowering damage from Physical or Special moves respectively. Finally, Leaf Storm can do significant damage. Other Options Baton Pass / U-turn, Stealth Rock, Calm Mind, Magical Leaf, Weather, Perish Song Double & Triple Battle Options Celebi will very likely fail in Double & Triples due to its lack ofmovepool for those battles and its huge weaknesses. It's best to avoid. Partners Heatran is an amazing partner for Celebi. Heatran basically resists everything that will damage Celebi and Celebi resists what damages Heatran. This allows you to switch between them and take your foes out at will, especially if you use Baton Pass/U-turn. Water-types like Gyarados and Pokémon like Magnezone are also great partners for similar reasons. If you use Baton Pass with Nasty Plot, you can pass on the Special Attack boost Countering Celebi There is a ridiculous amount of possible Celebi counters due to its typing. Beyond that, Special Walls like Blissey will stop it easily, being able to withstand almost all hits from Celebi. Steel-type and Dragon-type Pokémon such as Skarmory and Latios/Latias can fully withstand Celebi's hits if it doesn't have the correct coverage, allowing them to take it out easily.
