Corsola, The Coral Pokémon. Many live in the clean seas of the south. They apparently can't live in polluted waters. In a south-sea nation, the people live in communities that are built on groups of these Pokémon. It continuously sheds and grows. The tip of its head is prized as a treasure because of its beauty.
Overview
Corsola is a Pokémon that is outclassed often, but it does have its own uses, especially as two of its abilities can heal it. One from status, the other healing Hit Points. It also has a massive movepool, but unfortunately its attack stats are not that good and its defense is mediocre, so the best thing to do is to set it up during a sandstorm so that it can take more hits. Unfortunately, Corsola is just screaming out with the desire for an evolution, but it can still have some uses.
Abilities
Hustle: This ability boosts the power of physical moves by 50%. This is very useful if you are going to use Corsola to do damage. Unfortunately, it comes with a cost of 20% accuracy.
Natural Cure: When you switch out, Corsola recovers from all status conditions. Very helpful
Regenerator: In a similar manner to the above, when you switch out, Corsola recovers 33% of its maximum Hit Points
Movesets
Recovery Master
-Scald
-Toxic
-Recover
-Refresh
Item Attached: Leftovers
Ability: Regenerator
EVs and Nature:
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SDef / 4 Def
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
This set works absolutely amazingly within a Sandstorm. As it boosts Corsola's Special Defense, it makes Corsola less vulnerable to hits. Scald is the attacking move, both useful in case of Taunts and to do damage. In addition to that, it has a chance of burning the opponent, thus doing damage to them and lowering their Attack. Toxic also works in a similar manner and gradually defeats the Pokémon's Hit Points. Recover heals your HP without switching and finally, Refresh heals it of any status condition
Calm Mind
-Calm Mind
-Power Gem
-Recover
-Earth Power
Item Attached: Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs and Nature:
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
This set uses Calm Mind to boost the Special Attack and Special Defense stats of Corsola which can be even more helpful within a Sandstorm. Power Gem does decent Rock damage with STAB while Earth Power can lower the opponent's Special Defense. Recover heals the Hit Points of Corsola.
Do The Hustle
-Rock Polish
-Stone Edge/Rock Blast/Head Smash
-Earthquake
-Body Slam/Frustration
Item Attached: Leftovers / Wide Lens
Ability: Hustle
EVs and Nature:
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd / 4 HP
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
Corsola is not the best attacker, no. However, it has access to a wide range of moves and, with Hustle, it becomes semi-viable. For hold item, you can go with Leftovers, do provide a means to increase your health, which is lacking in this set while Wide Lens can make up some of the lost accuracy. Rock Polish boosts Corsola's dire Speed stat by 2 stages, making it more viable. Stone Edge has a high Critical Hit ratio with STAB while the alternative of Rock Blast can hit multiple times. Earthquake is self explanatory and Body Slam and Frustration do good, solid damage
EVs & Natures
Corsola
The best idea here is to focus upon Corsola's defenses so that you can wall and stall the opponents as long as possible.
Other Options
Aqua Ring, Head Smash, Light Screen, Protect, Psychic, Reflect, Shadow Ball
Aqua Ring can get you some decent gradual Hit Point recovery.
Head Smash does decent damage, especially with Hustle in effect, but does recoil
Light Screen and Reflect can be used to dual screen and protect your team from further damage.
Protect can protect you from hits
Psychic & Shadow Ball provide some different typed alternatives to do damage
Double & Triple Battle Options
Corsola works best as a support Pokémon and works better in Single Battles as it can switch in and out on damage done to its partners
Partners
Corsola is a slow Pokémon so it can work better in a Trick Room team. Various Pokémon who set up Trick Room will be very handy for Corsola, so it can do its damage, if it is to do damage, first. In addition to this, Corsola needs to be in a Sandstorm team. Sandstorm boosts its Special Defense, making it incredibly bulky. So partners with Sand Stream or just general Pokémon who set it up are perfect
Countering Corsola
Corsola is a slow Pokémon with mediocre defenses. While most Corsola will be shrouded in a sandstorm to boost their Special Defense, you should focus on physical attacks. Grass-types are the best choice here, beaing able to do 4x damage so Pokémon with Leaf Blade would do well. Fighting, Ground & Electric-types are also very useful in taking out Corsola.
