For those of you in Europe and Oceania, the eighth month of the Legendary Pokémon Year events have begun. From now until September 23rd 2018, players will be able to get a Latias in Pokémon Sun and Ultra Sun or Latios in Pokémon Moon and Ultra Moon simply by going through Mystery Gift > Get Via Internet. These distributions differ between Sun & Moon and Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon with the Pokémon being Level 60 in Sun & Moon and Level 100 holding a Gold Bottle Cap in Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon. This event will be distributed in North America through BestBuy from September 2nd as a Serial Code event

Niantic have detailed the timings for the Global Challenge for this weekend. While the previous ones ran from midnight, this time they run at a later point, running from 7am to begin. The taks are to get 5,000,000 Research Tasks done in each region to umlock a special reward. If all regions complete it, then they unlock Moltres Day and with that, the Ultra Bonus will be unlocked. The Ultra Bonus will be announced on September 10th if they are accomplished

Pokémon Sun & Moon - Airing Shift
It has been confirmed that as of October 7th 2018, the Pokémon anime will have moved on TV Tokyo from Thursdays at 18:55 to Sundays at 18:00. This is part of a move by the new head of TV Tokyo to help make Sundays more family orientated. The last episode to air before the shift will air on September 13th and have 2 weeks of no episodes. This is the first shift from the Thursday timeslot since April 16th 1998 when the timeslot shifted from Tuesdays following the hiatus after the Porygon episode aired

It has been confirmed that, if players complete all the Global Challenges this weekend to tie in with GO Safari Zone in Yokosuka, it will unlock a unique Moltres Day on September 8th 2018. During the three hour window on this day, all Gyms will have Moltres Raid Battles. This Moltres will have the Charge Move of Sky Attack and will have a chance to be Shiny. In addition to this, if the challenge is met, players will be able to get a total of 5 free Raid Passes on September 8th. The Global Challenge this weekend are:

The smartphone game, Pokémon Duel, has had a new update. This patch takes it to version 6.1.0 and requires 247MB of space on your mobile device to download. It is required to update in order to play the game

Details for the next Battle Competition have been announced. This is the World Championships Friendly competition. This is a Double Battle competition using standard 2019 VGC rules where players can use 2 Restricted Pokémon (Mewtwo, Lugia, Ho-Oh, Groudon, Kyogre, Rayquaza, Dialga, Palkia, Giratina, Reshiram, Zekrom, Kyurem, Xerneas, Yveltal, Zygarde, Cosmog, Cosmoem, Solgaleo, Lunala & Necrozma) and is based on the Ultra Series where there are no item or move restrictions. All Pokémon will be raised to Level 50 for the duration of the competition. Registration runs from September 6th through September 13th 2018. Battles will run from September 14th through September 16th. All entrants will get 50BP

The Special Battle rules for Season 11 have been revealed. Season 12 will run from September 3rd through November 6th and runs on Sun & Moon and Pokémon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon, with rankings separate to eachother. This ruleset is rather standard but bans all SubLegendary, Legendary and Mythical Pokémon. It also doesn't allow for Mega Stones Battle type: Single Battle Pokémon Restrictions: National Pokédex. Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, Mewtwo, Mew, Raikou, Entei, Suicune, Lugia, Ho-Oh, Celebi, Regirock, Regice, Registeel, Latias, Latios, Kyogre, Groudon, Rayquaza, Jirachi, Deoxys, Uxie, Mesprit, Azelf, Dialga, Palkia, Heatran, Regigigas, Giratina, Cresselia, Phione, Manaphy, Darkrai, Shaymin, Arceus, Victini, Cobalion, Terrakion, Virizion, Tornadus, Thundurus, Reshiram, Zekrom, Landorus, Kyurem, Keldeo, Meloetta, Genesect, Xerneas, Yveltal, Zygarde, Diancie, Hoopa, Volcanion, Type: Null, Silvally, Tapu Koko, Tapu Lele, Tapu Bulu, Tapu Fini, Cosmog, Cosmoem, Solgaleo, Lunala, Nihilego, Buzzwole, Pheromosa, Xurkitree, Celesteela, Kartana, Guzzlord, Necrozma, Magearna, Marshadow, Poipole, Naganadel, Stakataka, Blacephalon, Zeraora, and Ash-Greninja cannot be used. The other standard rules apply, including all set to Level 50 if above that, and you choose 3 Pokémon out of your 6, and you cannot have two Pokémon holding the same hold item. Battles have a 10 minute duration, with turns having a 60 second timer.
In addition to this, on September 4th, the Championship Battle ruleset will change to the VGC 2019 Sun Series rules

VGC 2019 ruleset has been announced. This ruleset is to be the return of GS Cup, allowing for 2 Legendary Pokémon that are normally banned (Mewtwo, Lugia, Ho-Oh, Groudon, Kyogre, Rayquaza, Dialga, Palkia, Giratina, Reshiram, Zekrom, Kyurem, Xerneas, Yveltal, Zygarde, Cosmog, Cosmoem, Solgaleo, Lunala & Necrozma) and begins September 4th. With this it also separates into three different series
Sun Series from September 4th to January 7th bans Mega Stones, Z-Crystals and Primal Pokémon
Moon Series from January 8th to April 1st bans Mega Stones, Red Orb, Blue Orb, Ultranecrozium Z and Mega Rayquaza
Ultra Series from April 2nd to Worlds allows for all moves and items
In addition to this, Player Time has been increased from 5 minutes up to 7 minutes per match

During the opening ceremony at the 2018 Pokémon World Championships, some new information was revealed for the upcoming movie, Pokémon Detective Pikachu. This showed the new logo for the movie as well as reconfirmation that it comes out in May 2019
The next special Group Match has been announced on Pokkén Tournament DX. From September 7th through 9th you can participate in the "Shadow Drop Cup" Group Match. This cup is a Basic Battle competition, once again on a Fixed Battle Arena. Participating in this brings a special title reward based on Gengar, and if you place highly you'll get other titles based on your placement.

Details for the World Championships Stream this weekend have been revealed. As always, the three games will be streamed on each respective Twitch channel while the main channel will also cut between all three. This then changes on Sunday to just the Main Stream airing all the finals. The dedicated channels will showcase the swiss rounds then the top cut.
The TCG casters are Cora Georgiou, Jeremy Jallen, Josue Rojano, Kyle Sabelhaus, Kyle Sucevich, Kenny Wisdom. The special Gym Cup, the Fire Gym Cup has begun in Pokémon Duel. This Gym Cup increases the movement of Fire-type figures and increases the White & Gold Attacks of Water-type Pokémon by 20. Within this, you can get the special Wash Rotom figure. It runs until August 21st 2018

A new update has started to roll out on Pokémon GO. This update brings the game up to Version 1.85.2 and adds a variety of new elements. First off it has added the Niantics Kids login capability for the younger players to log in. In addition to this, it has updated the Friend List to give a blue indicator if you have increased your friendship level with them on the day and an arrow on the friend list if you have sent a gift. It also allows for you to turn off the ability to share what you last caught on your Friend List. In addition to this, on the notification that a raid battle is starting soon, it will show you a picture of the Gym it's starting at.
It also fixes a number of bugs in the game including glitches with the GO Plus and the glitch where if you use a berry and then run from a Pokémon, it'd cause the game to crash when you return to it

Niantic have confirmed thyat Celebi is to be available through Special Research in Pokémon GO on August 20th. This Special Research will involve many things including various Pokémon encounters and more. It can be done once you've reached the third stage of the Mew Special Research and, if you're not done on Mew, can be done at the same time. If you got Celebi at GO Fest, then you will get additional candy. The official posting also states that more Johto Pokémon will appear around the time of Celebi's appearance. In addition to this, a Celebi T-Shirt is available for free in the Style Shop, and HeartGold & SoulSilver outfits will also unlock based on progress of your Johto Pokédex

The Legendary Pokémon Regirock is now in Raid Battles in Pokémon GO. It will appear in all tier 5 Raid Battles until September 20th 2018. The smartphone game, Pokémon Duel, has had a new update. This patch takes it to version 6.2.0 and requires 247MB of space on your mobile device to download. It is required to update in order to play the game
In addition to the balance patches announced yesterday, this patch contains new Beginner Missions that give smaller rewards have started.
Special bundles including Shiny Greninja, as well as many other hard to get figures, have also become available to purchase for a week.

Pokémon Duel - Balance Patch
Tomorrow, a new version of Pokémon Duel is being uploaded following the weekly maintenance. This update is Version 6.2.0 and includes a variety of changes and new features.
First off, the mechanism behind Mega Evolution is changing. Now, when you add a Mega Evolution Pokémon in your deck, at the start of the duel the Mega Evolution plate for it will automatically be set for each of your Mega Evolutions in the deck. This means it no longer counts towards the usual plate cost and there is no limit to the amount you can have in your deck. However, the Meteoric Teachings plate that Mega Evolves Rayquaza is not counted towards this.
In addition to this, some figures are set to be updated Mega Venusaur
Changed Cruel Blossom's Incursion effect to no longer give Wait 5 when a Pokémon is passed through but to rather exclude a Pokémon from the Duel for 7 turns

Pokémon in Other Games - Taiko Drum Master
Recently it was announced that the latest in the series of Taiko No Tatsujin, called Drum 'n' Fun, was to hit Europe and North America. Today, Bandai Namco have reconfirmed that the track list will remain the same between the Japanese and localised versions so it includes the Japanese Opening theme for the Pokémon Sun & Moon anime, "Alola!". This game is out now in Japan and is due for release in the west later this year

In this, it confirms that Mega Evolutions return in the games once again activating when you have the Key Stone and the Pokémon's associated Mega Stone. The magazine also showcases Vermilion City Gym and showcases that Lt. Surge once again has a Raichu

During the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Direct today, it was confirmed that the Pokémon Stadium and Unova Pokémon League stages were making a return to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
Edit @ 15:22: There are new Poké Ball Pokémon. Alolan Exeggutor acts a wall. Mimikyu jumps onto an enemy and does damage. Marshadow arrives and does damage. Ditto duplicates a character. Kantonian Vulpix has a similar move to Alolan Vulpix and Pyukumuku is also there

Following the reveal on Monday that Eevee and its evolutions will receive the move Last Resort during the Community Day, Niantic have reconfirmed what The Pokémon Company has said and have increased the time so that if you evolve an Eevee from the start of Community Day until 20:00 UTC, your Eevee evolution will know Last Resort. The Community Day runs at the following times:
The Asia-Pacific region: 12:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. JST (GMT +9)
Europe, Japan, the Middle East, Africa, and India: 09:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. UTC (GMT +0)

Pokémon Duel - Update
The smartphone game, Pokémon Duel, has had a new update. This patch takes it to version 6.1.2 and requires 247MB of space on your mobile device to download. It is required to update in order to play the game
This patch alters a number of fixes but also provides a special pack so players can purchase gems and get the special figure for Shiny Mimikyu. This pack comes with 1 Shiny Mimikyu, 30 Gems and 1 Rare Metal EX

Niantic have announced that, on August 20th 2018, an update will hit Pokémon GO which adds a cap on research task rewards. At present, with encounter rewards, you can complete the field researrch but not get the reward until later. However, from August 20th, you'll only be able to store 100 of these rewards at any one time. From then, your 100 most recent ones will be saved.

Pokémon Shuffle has begun Week 2 of its event cycle. This cycle continues the Pokémon Safari from last week as well as the following stages that will run for a week
The Ultra Challenge Stage is a stage for Regigigas
The Great Challenge Stages are Meganium, Ho-Oh, Emboar, Amoonguss & Rowlet
The Daily Pokémon are Druddigon, Pachirisu, Yamask, Tropius & Farfetch'd
There's a One Chance Per Day stage for Tornadus Incarnate Form
There's a Special Challenge stage to give access to Xerneas

It has been confirmed that during the Community Day on August 11th & 12th 2018, if you catch Eevee during the three hour windows on either day, your Eevee will know the move, Last Resort and the evolutions of Eevee will keep the move if evolved between the start of Community Day on Saturday and the end of Community Day on Sunday. Japanese TV Guides have revealed new episode titles for upcoming episodes of the anime. These episodes are set to air August 30th and September 6th respectively. The first features Lunala fight with Necrozma in front of Ash & Co., with Team Rocket and Solgaleo quickly appearing. The second features Ash & Co. travel through Ultra Wormholes to help stop the crisis of Alola

Pokémon GO - Community Day
Due to the delay caused by the massive bad weather in Japan last month, the special reschedule for Articuno Day and Squirtle Community Day has begun in Japan and will last 6 hours until 15:00 JST. This event willhave all Gyms in Japan have an Articuno Raid while Squirtle will spawn in increased numbers, with exclusive field research which allows for players to find a Squirtle with Sunglasses. As these events fell in the Global Challenge Rewards period for the rest of the world, during the event today there's also triple experience on capture, triple experience on Egg Hatches and double experience from Raid Battles. Lucky Eggs will also last an hour during this event

The Groudon & Kyogre event has begun worldwide. This event runs through most of the month and is a serial code event in stores.
In the UK & Spain it will be distributed at GAME from August 3rd through August 25th
In the US, it'll be at Gamestop from August 3rd through 26th In Canada, it'll be at EB Games from August 3rd through 26th
In the Germany, Ireland and Italy, it'll be at Gamestop from August 3rd through 25th
In France it will be at Micromania until August 25th
In Belgium, it'll be distributed at Game Mania and Smartoys from August 3rd through August 25th
In the Netherlands, it will be distributed at Game Mania from August 3rd through August 25th
In Australia it's available at EB Games until August 25th
In Sun & Ultra Sun, you will receive Kyogre and in Moon & Ultra Moon you will receive Groudon. Pokémon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon - Battle Competition
Battles for the next Battle Competition have begun. This is the Let's Go Cup competition. This is a Single Battle competition using standard rules where players can only use Pikachu or Eevee with only 1 Pokémon being allowed in the team. All Pokémon will be raised to Level 50 for the duration of the competition. Battles will run from August 3rd through August 5th. All entrants will get a special mobile wallpaper

The next special Group Match has begun on Pokkén Tournament DX. Until July 22nd you can participate in the "Deep Blue Monarch" Group Match. This cup is a Basic Battle competition, once again on a Fixed Battle Arena. Participating in this brings a special title reward based on Empoleon, and if you place highly you'll get other titles based on your placement.

Today marks the release of the seventh Pokémon Sun & Moon TCG set. This set contains 183 cards of various Pokémon that inhabit the Hoenn Region including various Pokémon-GX with the introduction of Stakataka. It is made up of the Champion Road & Charisma of the Wrecked Sky packs from Japan. Our card listing and the associated Cardex have been updated with the details of this set

A new event has begun in Pokémon GO. From now until 02:00 UTC on August 20th 2018, all trades will have a 25% discount on the amount of Stardust used for trades. In addition to this, candy from trades is increased so you can obtain up to 6 Candy for each trade. Finally, there's triple experience for a new Pokémon in your Pokédex

In Japan, as part of a sponsorship promotion, Toho Cinemas had sponsored Poké Stops and Gyms allowing for trainers across the country to have access to these Stops at the theater. Today, it was announced that the sponsorship deal has ended and, as of August 7th 2018, the PokéStops and Gyms for each Toho Cinema across Japan will be removed.

The next special Group Match has been announced on Pokkén Tournament DX. From August 12th through August 19th you can participate in the "Psydisaster" Group Match. This cup is a Team Battle competition, once again on a Fixed Battle Arena. A new Queen's Cup event has begun in Pokémon Duel. This cup has you play against players to earn a high score with various rewards based on it. It runs until August 7th and offers another chance to get the Frost Rotom & Rotom figures for getting enough points

As part of the monthly rotation of Field Research, new Field Research tasks will begin to appear in Pokémon GO. With this, there is a focus on Johto Pokédex Pokémon and Electric-type Pokémon, with the Legendary Beast Raikou having now rotated in as the Research Breakthrough reward

Due to the abnormally hot weather in Japan at present, the upcoming events for Pokémon GO in Japan have been altered. First, the Articuno Day on August 4th has been pushed earlier to run from 09:00 JST to 15:00 JST with the Squirtle Community Day running at the same time. Following that, on August 11th and August 12th, the Eevee Community Day will run in Japan from 18:00 JST to 21:00 JST.
