Pokémon Sun & Moon - Battle Competition
Registration of the next Battle Competition has begun for Japan. This is the special Japan Championships 2017 Battle Competition and runs standard VGC 2017 rules. This competition is used in order for players from Japan to qualify for this year's Pokémon World Championships in Anaheim and runs differently to past competitions.
Registration for Juniors & Seniors runs from March 30th 2017 to April 28th 2017 while registration for Masters runs from March 30th 2017 to April 15th 2017. Battles for the Juniors runs from April 28th through May 1st. The Masters however have access to 5 different schedules. These are
April 15th to April 17th, April 21st to April 23rd, April 26th to April 28th, April 30th to May 2nd and May 6th to May 8th, all starting and ending at 09:00 JST on the respective days. The rating from each of the participations in the 5 bands are then added up and the top 50 will be offered entry to a competition held in real life on June 18th 2017
All players that participate in three or more battles will get the Sceptilite, Blazikenite and Swampertite, just like the 2017 International Challenge April for the rest of the world

Pokémon Sun & Moon - Battle Competition
Following the reveal yesterday, the Pokémon Global Link has updated to state that the 2017 International Challenge April will not just give Sceptilite and Blazikenite for entry, but will also give Swampertite allowing for you to Mega Evolve all three Hoenn Starter Pokémon from this competition. To get these Mega Stones, you need to compete in 3 battles in the competition. Registration will be open from April 19th at 00:00 UTC to April 27th 23:59 UTC and battles will run from April 28th to April 30th.

Pokémon Sun & Moon - Global Link Gift
For those of you who participated in the recent Kanto X Alola Regional Rumble Competition, the entry gift is now available to all qualifying players through this link after logging into the Global Link. This gift is a Pidgeotite and a Steelixite, which cannot be obtained through any other means at this time, and needs to be redeemed by April 27th 2017 at 23:59 UTC.. However, separate distributions for these Mega Stones through shared code will begin in later this Spring for those who didn't participate in this online competition.

Pokémon Sun & Moon - Battle Competition
Details of the next Battle Competition have been announced. This is the 2017 International Challenge April competition. This is a Double Battle competition using VGC 2017 rules requiring the Alola Pokédex only. Cosmog, Cosmoem, Solgaleo, Lunala, Magearna, Necrozma and Zygarde are not allowed. Mega Stones are also not allowed. Registration will be open from April 19th at 00:00 UTC to April 27th 23:59 UTC and battles will run from April 28th to April 30th. All entrants will get the Sceptilite and Blazikenite Mega Stones. Players that are part of the Play! Pokémon program will also earn Championship Points if they rank high enough

Pokémon Sun & Moon - Global Missions
The fifth Pokémon Sun & Moon Global Mission has begun. This Global Mission's theme involves hatching Eggs. To beat this Global Mission, over 200,000 Eggs have to be hatched. Rewards are 2,000 FC (Success), 200 FC (Failure) - If the game is tied to a Global Link account: 4,000 FC (Success), 400 FC (Failure). This Mission runs until April 10th 2017 23:59 UTC. If players hatch 3 or more Eggs, then they will earn a Rare Candy and if 400,000 Eggs are hatched, all players with a PGL account will get a Love Ball

Pokémon Sun & Moon - Battle Spot Exclusions
The Pokémon Company has just announced that 7,651 people have been banned from online activity for having altered save data. This ban prevents them from using Game Sync, entering in Rating Battles and Battle Competitions, and participating in Global Missions. When they try, they will get an error message with the error code 090-0212. They promise to continue pursuing people with edited & illegal save data and will enact similar restrictions without notice. This follows on from a similar announcement back in January where it was noted that 5,954 people were banned from Battle Spot. We'll bring all further developments about this as it comes

A few brand new challenges have begun on Pokémon Shuffle and Pokémon Shuffle Mobile.
First up is a Meloetta competitive stage.
The top 100 players in Europe, in North America and 500 in Japan will get 1 Skill Swapper, 5 Mega Speedup and 10 Raise Max Level.
The top 300 players in Europe, in North America and 1500 in Japan will get 1 Skill Swapper, 4 Mega Speedup and 8 Raise Max Level.
The top 500 players in Europe, in North America and 3000 in Japan will get 1 Skill Swapper, 3 Mega Speedup and 6 Raise Max Level.
The top 900 players in Europe, in North America and 5000 in Japan will get 1 Skill Swapper, 2 Mega Speedup and 4 Raise Max Level.
The top 1800 players in Europe, in North America and 10000 in Japan will get 1 Skill Swapper, 2 Mega Speedup and 2 Raise Max Level.
The top 3600 players in Europe, in North America and 20000 in Japan will get 1 Skill Swapper, 1 Mega Speedup and 1 Raise Max Level.
The top 5400 players in Europe, in North America and 30000 in Japan will get 1 Skill Swapper, 1 Mega Speedup and 1 Skill Booster M.
The top 7200 players in Europe, in North America and 40000 in Japan will get 1 Skill Swapper, 1 Mega Speedup and 1 Disruption Delay.
The top 9000 players in Europe, in North America and 50000 in Japan will get 1 Skill Swapper and 1 Attack Power.
The top 13000 players in Europe, in North America and 70000 in Japan will get 1 Disruption Delay and 1 Attack Power.
All other players will get an Attack Power
Next, the Escavalier and Accelgor stages have both begun. They run until April 4th 2017 and are recommended for the Meloetta stage.
In addition to that, the Genesect stage has also begun. It runs until April 4th 2017. If caught, it may drop a Skill Booster or a Raise Max Level
Next, an Escalation Battle has begun for Keldeo Resolute Form. It runs until April 11th 2017 and gives a variety of items
The Wobbuffet (Female) stage has now joined the rotation with Wobbuffet and Carnivine with the Try 'em Items stages. It lasts a week and costs nothing to play or use items with.
Finally, a repeat stage has begun for Tornadus Incarnate Forme. It runs until April 4th 2017 and can only be played once per day
In addition to this, various Pokémon have had their maximum level increased through the use of Raise Max Level
All of these require the version 1.4.5 to download. Our Pokémon listings have been updated with these Pokémon

In a continuation of the new tradition of Strengthening Packs with each new Trading Card Game set in Japan, Japanese sellsheets have now confirmed that, following the release of the third set in June, the third Strengthening Set, Shining Legends, will be released in Japan on July 15th 2017. Following their reveal for Japan yesterday, it has been confirmed that the two new Nintendo 3DS themes are to be released in North America later today. These themes are Pokémon - A Sinister Organisation: Team Skull, and Shiny Tapu Koko and will be $1.99 each to download. . The first is the Pokemon: Shiny Tapu Koko which features special art of the Shiny Tapu Koko as well as Lycanroc, Golisopod and Kommo-o. It has the music Battle! Guardian from Pokémon Sun & Moon.
Secondly is the Pokemon: Team Skull which features artwork of the Team Skull and the Battle! Team Skull Boss music from Pokémon Sun & Moon.

Pokémon Duel - Update
The smartphone game, Pokémon Duel, has had a new update. This patch takes it to version 3.0.5 and contains a variety of bug fixes and requires 163MB of space on your mobile device to download. It is required to update in order to play the game
This patch contains various bug fixes, as well as the balance updates for the Delphox, Torterra & Groudon announced yesterday. It also added 6 new figures to the Boosters.
The two EX figures are Rhyperior & Heatran.
Rare figures are Liepard. The UC figures are Cottonee, Noctowl & RhydonIn addition to that, two new Plates have been added, focusing on Ryperior & Dark-type Pokémon.
They have also added an Orange Time Booster that may appear through League Matches until March 14th 2017. It's guaranteed to hold Fire-type or Ground-type Pokémon

Pokémon X, Y, Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire - 3DS Themes
Two brand new themes have been released in Japan for 200¥ each. These themes each have a specific focus and Pokémon theme. The first is the Pokemon: Shiny Tapu Koko which features special art of the Shiny Tapu Koko as well as Lycanroc, Golisopod and Kommo-o. It has the music Battle! Guardian from Pokémon Sun & Moon.
Secondly is the Pokemon: Team Skull which features artwork of the Team Skull and the Team Skull encounter music from Pokémon Sun & Moon. It can be purchased for 200¥
There is currently no sign of international release

A new event has been announced for Pokémon GO. Starting from today at 20:00 UTC until March 29th 2017 a special Water Festival event will be held. This event has Water-type Pokémon including Squirtle, Totodile and Magikarp. Water-type Pokémon will be more common in areas they usually spawn. In addition to that, a special Magikarp hat will be available during the time
Edit @ 21:46: There are numerous reports of Shiny Magikarp appearing in the game during this event. They will appear in the overworld as standard but are said to be Shiny in battle and will only be shiny for you, not for other people. Rarity for this is not currently known and there have been no reports of any other Pokémon being shiny at this time. We're currently investigating.

Pokkén Tournament - Championship Series
The Pokkén Tournament 2017 Championship Series has finally been announced. It has been confirmed that there will be two qualifying events held in June where the Top 4 players will then be invited to the World Championships, along with 4 from Japan and four from the Last Chance Qualifier. Details and locations of these qualifiers have yet to be annopunced but we will provide full details as and when we can

First, a new Pokémon Safari event has begun from today until April 4th 2017. This Safari gives you access to Krabby, Kingler, Goldeen, Seaking, Plusle, Minun, Kimono Boy Pikachu and Kimono Girl Pikachu
Next, a special stage for Hydreigon has begun until March 28th 2017. If you previously have a Hydreigon, it will also give Personal Skill Boosters.
Next, a repeat of the Black Kyurem stage has begun until April 4th 2017
Finally, a repeat of the Reshiram stage has begun and runs until April 4th 2017

If you were one of the lucky players worldwide who ranked in the Mega Garchomp competitive stage over the past week, then the Garchompite is now available to be received. This et is based on three Japanese sets, the Sun & Moon Strengthening Set, and the recently released Alolan Moonlight and Islands Await You set that focus on Tapu Koko, Tapu Lele, Lycanroc and various other Pokémon. Today, we are covering a Pokémon introduced in the fourth generation. They are native to the snowy regions of Sinnoh, and since evolving from Sneasel they have only become more devious. It usually prefers to travel in groups of four or five to hunt, and they carve patterns in trees and boulders with their claws in order to signal the others that their prey is close. It has been announced that a special Bewear distribution will run in Pokémon Centers across Japan to tie in with the Sparkling Spring Festival campaign. During this, from April 15th to May 7th you will be able to obtain a Bewear. Currently no details are known about the Bewear but we'll bring more as it comes.

Official details have been released for the special Ash Pikachu event being given to tie in with the movie Pokémon I Choose You. As posted on Sunday, the distributions run at different times depending on what hat you want. However, we now have details for each of the Pikachu. Pokémon Sun & Moon - Battle Competition
Details of the next Battle Competition have been announced. This is the special Japan Championships 2017 Battle Competition and runs standard VGC 2017 rules. This competition is used in order for players from Japan to qualify for this year's Pokémon World Championships in Anaheim and runs differently to past competitions.
Registration for Juniors & Seniors runs from March 30th 2017 to April 28th 2017 while registration for Masters runs from March 30th 2017 to April 15th 2017. Battles for the Juniors runs from April 28th through May 1st. The Masters however have access to 5 different schedules. These are
April 15th to April 17th, April 21st to April 23rd, April 26th to April 28th, April 30th to May 2nd and May 6th to May 8th, all starting and ending at 09:00 JST on the respective days. The rating from each of the participations in the 5 bands are then added up and the top 50 will be offered entry to a competition held in real life on June 18th 2017

Pokémon Sun & Moon - Special Battle Season 3
The Special Battle rules for Season 3 have been revealed. Season 3 will run from March 21st 2017 to May 15th 2017 and runs on Sun & Moon. This ruleset requires all Pokémon to be holding Z-Crystals. The base rules for this season are as follows:
Battle type: Single Battle
Pokémon Restrictions: National Pokédex.
Banned Pokémon: Mewtwo, Lugia, Ho-Oh, Celebi, Kyogre, Groudon, Rayquaza, Jirachi, Deoxys, Dialga, Palkia, Giratina, Phione, Manaphy, Darkrai, Shaymin, Arceus, Victini, Reshiram, Zekrom, Kyurem, Keldeo, Meloetta, Genesect, Xerneas, Yveltal, Zygarde, Diancie, Hoopa, Volcanion, Cosmog, Cosmoem, Solgaleo, Lunala, Necrozma, Magearna, Ash-Greninja
Item Restrictions: All Pokémon have to hold Z-Crystals
The other standard rules apply, including all set to Level 50 if above that, and you choose 3 Pokémon out of your 6, and you cannot have two Pokémon holding the same hold item.

Pokémon Sun & Moon - Global Missions
The fourth Pokémon Sun & Moon Global Mission has finished in success. This Global Mission's theme was earning BP through the Battle Tree and 15,671,838 were earned.As it was a success, the gift of 2,000 FC, or 4,000 FC if the game is connected to the Global Link, is now available. Distribution of the Heavy Ball and Rare Candy event is forthcoming later this month and will be given through Serial Code on the Global Link.
It is also confirmed that the next Global Mission will run from March 28th 2017 and will be about Hatching as many eggs as possible

A few brand new challenges have begun on Pokémon Shuffle and Pokémon Shuffle Mobile.
First up is a Mega Garchomp competitive stage. The top 200 players in Europe and 1000 players in Japan, you will get 5 Raise Max Level, 5 Mega Speedup and 1 Garchompite. If you are in the top 500 in Europe and 2500 in Japan, you will get 4 Raise Max Level, 4 Mega Speedup and 1 Garchompite. If you are in the top 1000 in Europe or 5000 in Japan, you will get 3 Raise Max Level, 3 Mega Speedup and 1 Garchompite. If you are in the top 2000 in Europe or 10,000 in Japan, you will get 2 Raise Max Level, 2 Mega Speedup and 1 Garchompite. If you are in the top 4000 in Europe or 20,000 in Japan, you will get 1 Raise Max Level, 1 Mega Speedup and 1 Garchompite.If you are in the top 6000 in Europe or top 30,000 in Japan, you will get 1 Mega Speedup, 1 Skill Booster M and 1 Garchompite. If you are in the top 9000 in Europe or 45,000 in Japan, you will get 1 Disruption Delay, 1 Exp. Booster L and 1 Garchompite. If you in the top 12000 in Europe or 60,000 in Japan, you will get 1 Garchompite and 1 Disruption Delay. Next, a special one chance a day stage has begun to get Lugia Costume Pikachu. This stage runs until March 28th 2017 and will get easier to capture as it progresses

Pokémon Duel - Update
The smartphone game, Pokémon Duel, has had a new update. This update brings the Dragon Gym Cup. This event gets new figures including Dragonite which can be obtained by reaching 35 wins. Trophies will also be given at the end of the event with you being able to display on your ranking screen. This event has all Dragon-type Movement 1 & 2 figures get an increase of 1 for movement and Fairy-types getting an Attack increase of 20 for each attack. It lasts until March 23rd at 04:59 UTC with Booster Redemptions until March 30th.

The first images from CoroCoro have leaked and have revealed the latest news on Sun & Moon. As always, do note that translations are preliminary while we work on them.
This notes that Ash Hat Pikachu have been confirmed to be the distribution for the movie if you prebook your tickets. You will receive one Serial Code that comes with the special Pikashumium Z Z-Crystal which activates its special Z-Move, 10,000,000 Volt Thunderbolt.
Original Cap can be obtained from April 15th to May 1st and then July 19th to July 31st.
Hoenn Cap from May 3rd through May 15th then again August 2nd through August 14th.
Sinnoh Cap from May 17th to May 29th with a repeat on August 16th through August 28th.
From May 31st through June 12th you can get the Unova Cap, repeated on August 30th through September 11th.
From June 14th through June 26th you can get the Kalos Cap, repeated September 13th through 25th.
Finally, from June 28th to July 17th you can get the Alola Cap Pikachu, repeated from September 27th through October 9th. You can only redeem a pre-booking ticket serial code once, but you can redeem as many codes per save file as you want. We'll bring more as it comes

Registration for the next Battle Competition has begun. This is the Kanto X Alola Regional Rumble competition. This is a Single Battle competition with standard rules requiring the Kanto & Alola Pokédex only. Mewtwo, Mew, Zygarde, Cosmog, Cosmoem, Solgaleo, Lunala, Necrozma, and Magearna cannot be used.. Mega Stones are also not allowed. Registration will be open from March 9th at 00:00 UTC to March 16th 23:59 UTC and battles will run from March 17th through March 19th. All entrants who play 3 or more battles will get the Pidgeotite and Steelixite Mega Stones.

Pokémon Shuffle - New Patch
A new update has gone live for Pokémon Shuffle. This update brings the game to Version 1.4 and includes information to allow for the Alola Pokémon, which were confirmed for later this Spring. Full details of the patch are currently being processed so be sure to keep checking back.
One update now has a present icon next to stage numbers where you can earn Personal Skill Boosters or other items in the game

For those of you who participated in the recent 2017 International Challenge February Online Competition, the entry gift is now available to all qualifying players. Links should show up in Global Link accounts throughout the day. This gift is a Beedrillite and a Mawilite, which cannot be obtained through any other means at this time, and needs to be redeemed by April 29th 2017 at 23:59 UTC.. However, separate distributions for Beedrillite and Mawilite through shared code will begin in April for those who didn't participate in this online competition.

Next, a challenge to get an Amoonguss has begun and will also last until March 21st 2017.
Next, a repeat of the Greninja stage has begun. This stage is available until March 14th 2017
Finally, a repeat of the Palkia stage has also begun. This stage is available until March 21st 2017

Today, we are covering a Pokémon introduced in the third generation. It pursues its prey at speeds of 75 mph and finishes them off with fangs that can crush iron. It is known as the bully of the sea. It has a sad history. In the past, its dorsal fin was a treasured foodstuff, so this Pokémon became a victim of overfishing. The spines sprouting from its head are transformed fangs. If they’re injured or broken off, the spines will regenerate countless times. As a consequence of Mega Evolution, its combative instincts exploded. Following the release of the Mewtwonite Mega Stones yesterday and the upcoming release of Beedrillite & Mawilite on Tuesday, The Pokémon Company has put out a note about usage on Battle Spot. The Mewtwonite X & Mewtwonite Y are currently unable to be used in Free Battle and Rating Battle on Battle Spot. This will be rectified soon. It also notes that the Beedrillite & Mawilite will be usable in Free Battle on Battle Spot immediately after it releases, but will not be usable in Rating Battle until Season 3 of the battles begins on March 21st. We'll bring more details on this as they come.

A new event has begun around the globe. This event gives the Mega Stones for Mewtwo, the Mewtwonite X and the Mewtwonite Y. This is given with the code: M2DESCENT. Currently there is no end date known for this distribution so be sure to get it while you still can.

The code will be available in a myriad of stores including 7-11, Pokémon Centers, Yodobashi Camera, Aeon, Amazon and Rakuten. Pokémon Duel - Update
The smartphone game, Pokémon Duel, has had a new update. This patch takes it to version 3.0.2 and contains a variety of bug fixes and requires 163MB of space on your mobile device to download. It is required to update in order to play the game
This patch contains various bug fixes, as well as the balance updates for the Charizard, Metagross, Zygarde & Tyranitar announced yesterday. It also added 11 new figures to the Boosters. The two EX figures are Zekrom & Reshiram.
Rare figures are Flygon & Whimsicott. The UC figures are Gothita & Solosis. In addition to that, two new Plates have been added, focusing on Reshiram, Zekrom and Zygarde.
They have also added an Orange Time Booster that may appear through League Matches until March 14th 2017. It's guaranteed to hold Fairy-type or Dragon-type Pokémon

To tie in with a special promotion in Japan, until March 13th 2017 in the Kumamoto & Oita Prefectures of Japan, the Pokémon Snorlax will be a lot more common than usual, allowing for more players to capture it. There is currently no word on if any similar promotions will run outside of Japan.

Pokémon the Movie 2017 - World Premiere Trailer
The first full trailer for the movie, Pokémon I Choose You has aired on Oha Suta and this trailer showed our first look at the movie. This trailer starts off with Ash trying to get Pikachu in a ball in scenes mirroring the first episode including the Spearow attack and Ho-Oh flying over, but this time it drops a Rainbow Wing for Ash. Tomorrow, a new version of Pokémon Duel is being uploaded following the weekly maintenance. In this update, some changes are being made to a few figures as well as a fix to Magikarp's Rapid Evolution ability.
Charizard
Ability - Charizard gets the ability Speed Booster which increases its Movement by 1 if it has evolved
Move Iron Tail is changed to Dragon Tail
Zygarde
Power of Dragon Breath increased from 80 to 100
Power of Land's Wratch increased from 60 to 70
Metagross
Ability - Metagross grets the ability Rapid Calculation which ignores ability-forced respin effects
Power of Metal Claw increased from 80 to 90
Tyranitar
Ability - Tyranitar gains the new ability Speed Booster
Earthquake piece size increased
Power of Bite increased from 40 to 50
Position of Earthquake and Crunch swapped
Size of Miss piece reduced

Pokémon GO - Upcoming Plans
During a talk at the Game Developer Conference, Niantic revealed some future plans for Pokémon GO. In it, they shared some prototype images of the game, showcasing the original characters were to be Brendan/May from Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire before being changed to the characters we have now, as well as revealing a few interesting tidbits. First, there was initially a plan to showcase weather in real-time in the game, such as it being overcast. They also planned to have the day transition into the night gradually with an evening look. Both of these plans are intended for the future. They also reconfirmed their plan to hold big events akin to Ingress Portals for people to gather. Full details of these have yet to be announced but we'll bring details as they come

Pokémon - Trademark
Earlier today, a trademark went live in Japan, registered by Nintendo, Creatures Inc. and Game Freak. This trademark is for the word ポケダリング (literally Pokedaringu, possibly translated as PokéDaring or PokéDulling - we won't get a proper romanisation until some context is given). It's not currently known what this trademark is for, as it doesn't appear to be used in any previous products. However, it could be for a game, merchandise line or even just an item in a game. We'll bring more on this trademark as and when it comes so be sure to keep checking back
